I read the rating and review of this place and thought we would give it a try. Fist impression was that it was a cute dive. Dives are usually good, so we decided to stop and eat. The food makes up for the lack of atmosphere. We had the 2 piece chicken combo. I got onion rings, my dad mashed... More

There are certainly plenty of fried chicken outlets just about everywhere, but Mama's distinguishes itself by the quality of its food and the family/community atmosphere and staff. The chicken is consistently flavorful and moist, but not overly spicey, so you can add hot sauce or other spices, if you want, but aren't forced to "feel the burn" if that's not... More

Nice little place. Shrimp is cooked to perfection. Chicken tenders were delicious and the dipping sauces were a great addition. Check it out. You won't be dissapointed.

We were super hungry and had no idea about the area or food. While putting gas at gas station we asked the attendant where to eat. She referred Mamas fried chicken. Since we only eat kosher seafood we had to picked. I tell you, wonderful experience, very delicious food and the pecan pie was a must try.

Great food, wonderful service. Large varied menu offering a lot of choices. The best fried chicken in Opelousas (and the whole area), as well as the best fried catfish meals. Spicy rice dressing, hand-made fried onion rings, gumbo. You must try this place out if you're in Opelousas.

We found this place by accident and was so amazed! The best fried chicken, liver, gizzards, and biscuits!! I am ready to just make a 4 hr trip to just go eat there. The home made lemonade is a must!

I always get chicken salad spread in the pint size to make sandwiches for the family. The seasoned fries are great- but I always get extra seasoning b/c its the best! when I did eat fried foods this was my favorite spot- the chicken is so delicious and you get a ton of large shrimp in the fried shrimp basket.

Though the fried chicken is probably wonderful, the only thing I have eaten here is the Fried Shrimp Po-boy (fully dressed), and I can't imagine trying anything else because it's so good. Big juicy shrimp. Spicy and flavorful.

I had a shrimp dinner basket which comes with one side. I had fried pickles. I added an order of onion rings and an order of fried okra. I also ordered a biscuit (the basket comes with a dinner roll) and a lemonade. The fried shrimp was the best I've ever had! It was tender, flavorful, and no shell or... More
