Our party of four recently visited Belfast, Maine, and we had the good fortune to discover the Gothic. We began our evening at the lively bar with great-tasting cocktails crafted by John, the experienced and congenial bar-tender. John really set the stage for what turned out to be a wonderful meal. the food here is fresh as can be, bursting... More

My husband and I were so disappointed when we heard the Lost Kitchen had closed. What a treat that the Gothic is even better! We ended up going two nights in a row, it was that good. Night one, I had the heirloom tomato salad with mozarella gelato and hubby had the crab and the beets. For mains, I had... More

The Gothic came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. The meal was excellent and the creativity with cuisine was outstanding.

I've eaten twice at The Gothic and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. The Gothic is owned by cutting-edge restaurateur Matthew Kenney who pushes the edge of nouvelle cuisine. The menu offers a small but choice selection of "land, sea, and soil" options, ranging from meat, fish, to vegetarian (often vegan) choices. Fish and meat are cooked by the "sous-vide" slow-cooking method... More

After discovering that the far superior Chase's Daily was not open for dinner on Thursday night, my dining companion and I ventured over to The Gothic, a new dining establishment housed in an intricately embellished Victorian neo-gothic building. Upon being seating, we were greeted with a menu of several sharing plates, starters, main dishes, and desserts. Everything appeared quite promising,... More

The decor of that restaurant that used to be the "Lost Kitchen" is nice. It used to be a bank. It has a tin ceiling and part tin walls. The decor is minimalist but pleasant. Reservations on weekend days are recommended since this is not a big restaurant. This was my first time there and considering the fact that this... More

After dining Lost Kitchen last summer was intrigued by the Gothic. We were looking for a nice dining experience but were very disappointed. 1. Waited for a table to open up for lunch, we are a party of four. Table opens up. We're seated. Waitress asks our drink order and after taking one order leaves the table....other three of us... More

Simply superb. Went to dinner with my partner the other evening and we were blown away! The food was marvelous, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The background music was even hip and groovy. We were presented with the menu, which was extensive and had something for everyone... we had that hardest time making up... More

We've stayed away from the Gothic because of the lack of choice in the menu. Our first foray was to sit at the bar for cocktails with the wonderful bartender Chris. We couldn't find a thing on the very limited menu. Tonight, that all changed. I noticed the menu had gotten larger and less stringent tonight and called for reservations.... More
