and that one is Thurstons. drink your beer while looking out over the boats that probably caught your lobster. Eat your lobster. have another beer. You have really "Done" Maine Lobster. Accept no substitutes

Thurston's has become part of our annual trip to MDI - we usually swing by at least once, and when our parents came up for part of the visit we added a second round. We're usually here late enough in the season to avoid huge...lines, but even my mother, who bless her heart is one of the least patient people I know when it comes to restaurants, wanted to come back a second time despite a line on her inaugural visit! The staff won't kiss your ring, but they're friendly and efficient. The lobster is super fresh and delicious (I usually go with a small soft-shell, with a plain dinner), and if the setting and the serving utensils are rustic know that your money is going into the pockets of the kids helping you and the people working to bring the lobsters to the dock and not into napkin-fluffing and middle men. The views are gorgeous, too.More

We discovered this authentic lobster spot when a local pointed us to this place. One thing I can attest to is that the locals are extremely friendly and helpful. When we arrived at 530pm, there was already a line to get in due to Covid...restrictions. If you are looking for a fancy, white table cloth restaurant then this is not the place for you. However, if you're looking for possibly the best tasting lobster ever. THIS IS IT!. I had never heard of a soft shelled lobster before and was told by staff its a must try. I was not disappointed . I can't even put into word my experience. I have eaten a lot of lobsters and this is by far the best Ive ever had. We also had steamers which were tasty. Tried blueberry soda for the fist time. Surprisingly delicious . My wife and I will definitely be returning next summer.More

Pouring rain and people were lined up for hours to get food- and let me tell you, it was so worth the wait!!! Amazing lobster stew and Bloody Mary. My only regret was that I didn’t order dessert because the others I saw looked scrumptious....Great setting and down to earth. Highly recommend!More

Excellent lobster (3lb lobsters!!! @ $13/lb), lobster stew, corn on the cob, mussels! They have a separate bar you can go to while waiting in line to order. Be prepared to wait a while in the line as it can get long. The first time...we waited an hour to order and the second time maybe 30 mins. The views of the harbor are beautiful so waiting isn’t too terrible. Folks were all spaced out 6 feet apart and wore masks. We were here 8 years ago and loved the lobster and had to return. So glad we did, it is a must!More

Escaped the heat and humidity of N.C. in Aug for the cool weather of Maine. Thurstons’ Lobster rolls and Lobster stew was so good we visited several times during our week stay. The restaurant had it’s tables social distanced and masks and sanitizer were expected....Gets busy at night so we enjoyed same menu for crowded leisurely lunch on the deck. Cold local brews, the fresh smell of the sea and watching boats while enjoying sweet lobster was a restorative experience!More

Always a great meal. Drinks were fabulous, views lovely. Wait was long but that was to be expected. We go here 2-3 times during our summer stay every year and will continue to do so in the future

My daughter and I were looking for the best place to get lobster and we found it! It is at the end of the road and not to crowded. First.. the atmosphere is perfect, overlooking the harbor and watching the lobster boats come and go,...is worth the trip out there! Throwing in the perfect lobster meal is icing on the cake! My daughter had the lobster roll... just lobster, some lettuce and a roll. Simple yet perfect! She loved it! She also tried the potato salad which was homemade and delicious! We got the hot lobster dip served with tortilla chips. The dip was delicious but it looked like we got the chips that were left at the bottom of the bag as they were broken little pieces but somehow we managed, lol. It was also a little pricey but worth it. I got the steamed lobster dinner. The lobster and corn on the cob were cooked perfectly. It also came with fresh, crisp slaw which is definitely homemade and a great roll with butter. AND a delicious piece of blueberry cake with a delicious brown sugar topping baked on top! I think the lobster dinner cost about $28 which I thought is a great price. I also had a blueberry-basil margarita. Very good! We probably will go here again today! I don't want to "try"another lobster place... don't fix what's not broken! Go here!More

Delicious lobster rolls served in a beautiful setting right on the water. We went for lunch because I heard it can get very crowded for dinner. We didn't have to wait more than five minutes in line and got a great table. It's a bit...far from Bar Harbor, but the south side of the island is much calmer and quieter. We went after visiting the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, which is very close by.More

What a horrible experience! I called to confirm that the restaurant was open before we drove the 40 minutes to have dinner. When we arrived there was a sign saying that they were closed. This was almost 40 minutes before they told me they were...closing. By the time we drove back into town it was difficult to find open restaurants. The worst part of this is the way we were treated when I tried to speak to the staff. They were so rude and completely unapologetic. This is not the first time this has happened to us at this restaurant. It is unacceptable. We will not be returning! Not worth the drive!!More

I’d like to start by apologizing for what must have been a very frustrating experience. Driving all the way here to discover we’ve put the closed sign out early is clearly not what we wanted to have happen to anyone. We made the decision to...More

Hi there! I'm not sure if you're the person who sent an inquiry through our website, but I just responded to that :) The only clams we serve are steamers, since we do not offer any fried foods on the menu!
