Went to Shannon’s for a lobster roll.
Casual location where you order at the window and can eat at picnic tables or take out.
The wait to order (about 15 min) and then for the food (about 20 min) was a bit long but ok....Staff and service were pleasant and polite
Lobster roll was very good - no Mayo, just lemon and butter (and fries) but was over $30 which seemed excessive given the amount of lobster. You do get. 10% discount for cash.
The price of lobster is now in competition with gold bars in this area. They say it is about $75.00 per lb. normal price non tourist season $23.00 now $36.00 but you do get some fries. I passed. wife got one. regular lobster sandwich small...shack eat outside. no parking servers were nice.More
We had high hopes for our lobster rolls after reading rave reviews but left super disappointed. I couldn’t even eat mine and I love lobster! The chef needs to take a drive to Connecticut to see how a real lobster roll should be served -...WARM with butter! Unfortunately ours were freezing cold with congealed butter and were obviously not fresh. Just a simple rule of cooking that if you butter something it needs to be warm. For $30+, outrageous. Our lunch for 5 cost more than most of the dinners we had in Boothbay, with wine. Even Nantucket is less expensive! That said, my daughter’s fish sandwich was delicious. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but we will not be back.More
Fabulous experience - lobster rolls are superb, served with fries, pickle, slaw. Reasonably priced and 10% cash discount offered. We also ordered the Haddock basket - delicious. Highly recommend and will return if in the area again!
Hands down, the best lobster rolls I have ever had! I wanted to have Shannon's' since I planned our trip to Boothbay, and she did not disappoint us. Yes these lobster rolls are expensive, but they are plump and plenty on rolls. They came with...large portion of fries and coleslaw. Other lobster rolls are cheaper, but their lobsters are chopped and mixed with mayonnaise. Shannon's' lobsters are so fresh that besides a bit of melted butter, there really was no need for any seasoning.
I will be back!More
We have coming to Shannon’s for 6 years. It has always been by far the best lobster roll we have ever eaten - and I try lobster rolls all over New England. But this year the price skyrocketed, jumping at least $10. We paid $80...for two rolls and a single root beer. Eighty dollars!!!! AND my roll was just ok. It was not overflowing as it has been in years past. We will skip it next year. What a disappointment.More
Yes, best lobster roll EVER. Why? Because it is pure lobster. No Mayo or fillers. Served with a basket of perfectly done fries, slaw, and DRAWN BUTTER. Price is steep but we’ll worth it. Also thoroughly enjoyed the clam chowder.

Hi Jan- I just spoke with Shannon's dad and was told that she will close sometime during the end of October depending upon the weather. Well worth the visit if you want a really fresh lobster roll. Spend some time in Portland on your visit. Best seafood dinner anywhere is Street & Co. Need a reservation. Enjoyed my visit to Carmel. Played golf at Crooked Stick. Welcome to Maine!
