On this visit to Clipper Merchant Tea House, I came with my husband instead of my sister or daughter. We decided on the Tower of London, then settled in to enjoy the delicious treats and the welcoming atmosphere. He loved the sandwiches and scones especially....More

For my Birthday I was treated to Elevenses at CMTH. The interior was gorgeous, the overall feel was like stepping back in time. However the Customer service was unwelcoming and lacking; despite this and for the experience alone my companion and I decided we would...More

No restaurant is obligated to accept bullying from patrons, especially a tea house that endorses courtesy and etiquette. You and your companion arrived 20 minutes before opening and loudly demanded a table. When I explained that our tables were reserved until later in the afternoon,...More

It seemed as if we were in Great Britain! Amid lace curtains and velvet drapes, cloth tablecloths and napkins, bone china teapots and cups, and framed pictures of the Queen and royalty, I had high tea with my sister. Where else in Maine could I...More

As tea lovers we were very excited to try this tea house! Everything started off ok, but then one pot of tea was the incorrect tea, and when questioned the server argued, but did eventually admit it was her mistake and brought the correct tea....More

We are sorry your experience was so negative. There are several complaints here that deserve reply. Our standard practice is to bring milk when customers request it as our milk is dairy fresh and not prepackaged in small units like Half and Half (that can...More

Unique, elegant setting for a lovely and delicious lunch. Homemade chilled soup, scones, and of course, the long list of teas from around the world. Service was perfect, as well!

This is a fantastic restaurant. The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is great and the service is very good. They serve a "tower" of food, small sandwiches, scones and sweets. We asked for a vegetarian version which was no problem, and very good.
