We were very disappointed in both the meal and the service when we dined here on August 18, 2020. This has always been one of our "go-to" restaurants while staying in Ogunquit. Not sure what happened to one of our very favorite places! Should have been a red flag when I called for reservations when I called and the host asked what time and she replied "Why not? We'll give it a try and see what happens." We waited 30 minutes to be seated and another 47 minutes before bread or a server appeared. A young man did bring us a small glass of water during the wait. Our meal was below par to say the least. Will hesitate before we eat here again. We usually eat here at least twice during our stay but once was enough this year. Very disappointed.

Two of us made outdoor dinner reservations and were quite pleased with our seating location. If not for the redeeming qualities of warmth, understanding, and overall goodness of our wonderful server, Jovana, and "busboy", Federico, our experience would have been completely tanked. It was apparent that there was a staffing shortage, as the elapsed time between ordering, both drinks and dinner, and being served seemed interminable. We happen to be extremely patient and understanding of the plights of our restaurants and their staff. When it came time to order, I was debating between two chicken entrees. The server highly recommended one of my choices, the chicken saltimbocca. When the dinners finally arrived after a very long time, I eagerly "dug in". My chicken was actually veal! I am not a veal eater; however, due to the back-up in the kitchen, I ate what I could (leaving much of the veal behind) rather than have us wait what could have been another hour. Jovana was very sincerely sorry when I told her what had happened. The silver lining was the dessert provided "on the house". I would not want to be in the food business, especially during these times. Kudos to Jovana and Federico for doing the best they could in a difficult circumstance! Suggestion... If short-staffed, perhaps put a tighter cap on the number of patrons seated at a time. Wouldn't that be better than leaving a "bad taste" in one's mouth?

we eat at roberto's every year when we come to Ogunquit. It was very good. One of our friends who met us there was disappointed however with the eggplant parm which they changed the recipe for, he said it didn't taste good. The rest of the dishes we had were very good. A big problem we really had is with the back room we were sat in, it was VERY warm in there. They had all the windows open when it was almost 80 outside and the air conditioning off. Many guests in this area were fanning themselves with menus, this should've been noticed by the wait staff and handled without having to ask for the air to be turned on, the waitress said because it was so cold when they came in they turned it off, but I can't believe that this warm room would've been comfortable for them when they are running around the place all night!

Sure, with mask wearing and outdoor/indoor seating, we figured the place would be a little hectic, but the staff seemed overwhelmed, hostess asked us to have patience with our server, and yes, we did. However, no patience for the overblown prices and mediocre food. Chicken 'Marsala' in what looked like and tasted like watered-down Chef Boyardee tomato sauce was the kicker. This is an Italian restaurant?? NEVER again.

We had a reservation which you should because this place is so busy, we seated immediately and then it took over an hour just to get an appetizer and a drink and we had witnessed people leaving I do not know how they get such a good review. The waitress was in tears because of attitudes of the customers and really all of this was due to be understaffed. I had the bolognese and I would have to say I have had much better at The Olive Garden. First time here at Roberto's and it will be the last and we come to Ogunquit a lot .

Seated promptly outdoor next to the garden that was in need of attention—just like their diners!
We waited patiently with the extensive menu which I had memorized by the time someone came by to tell us someone would be right with us. Constant delays and excruciating wait for wait staff, drinks, food and then never received the bill. We had to chase someone down yo pay for our diner. Never got offered another drink, no checking on how our meals were and never did get that Parmesan cheese to go on our dinners they promised they would be right back with!
The food quality didn’t make up for any of it.
We won’t be back.

This is where we go when we want to dine versus just eat out. Tables on the front lawn or under a tent, servers in masks, super safe. Their sunset menu costs $18.95 for a three course meal. I always get homemade sausage and pasta. Alexandria is our waitress, Getza our bus boy and the service they give is perfect. I know there are lots of other choices locally, but this is our favorite!

A Must Go!!!!
To start off we were seated at a beautiful table in the lawn, the staff was friendly, and fast to get waters and bread to us. Lady was our server she was lovely! She recommended the lobster parpadelle and I am so grateful she did. We started with the oysters Rockefeller- so delicious especially on a slice of the crusty bread. I had the lobster bisque and my husband had the arugula salad. Both were delicious, there was a lot of lobster in the bisque and it was so creamy!! We had large portions with the parpadelle and seafood linguine (ciopinno). The flavors were phenomenal in both were so well done. My family makes their own macaroni and I can truly say this parpadelle was divine! Dessert was tiramisu and blueberry pie - again delicious.
What stood out to me and got me to write this review however was not the delicious food but the friendly, kind and welcoming service. We overheard the owner chatting with guests and I searched her out to let her know how delicious the food was and how much I appreciated her positive personality and outlook! In this time of Covid we have found many business owners who are frustrated with the tourist climate but not Kathy or her staff! They found out we were on our honeymoon and their kindness made our night. If you are in town and don’t go to Robertos you will miss out on amazing food and lovely people. A huge thank you to them for making tonight the best meal of our honeymoon .

We visited this restaurant on 8/18 to have what was suppose to be a great anniversary and just wanted to give some feedback. We had a reservation and when I asked if we could please sit outside upon arrival at the restaurant we were told we could not sit outside due to no tables. When I pointed out to waitress that there were lots of empty tables outside she said it was Because it was the waitress that was overwhelmed outside . We then asked if we could wait for a party to leave and then sit outside she checked with waitress and they had a discussion in another language in front of us and waitress finished the conversation saying she was “only one person “and was not going to take any more people in the outside seating. In the meantime there were multiple parties waiting to be seated that had reservation and had requested outside who were being told the same thing. Finally she did seat us outside and things didn’t get any better. Waitress at this point had 4 tables total outside ,still took forever to take our drink order and then food order. Never went over specials or anything. Just rushed us once she finally got to us which was like 50 minutes. I ordered a pineapple-Tini which was just horrible. Our food was pretty bland and not very good. When I made the reservation I put down that we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Not sure why that question was asked since that was not brought up at all. Check came to us and their was never any mention if we wanted coffee or dessert. Very sad that we had to have this experience on what we thought was going to be a great experience on a special date. I asked to speak with a manager prior to sitting down to discuss the entire seating situation and no manager ever came to speak with me. We are very disappointed and hope you can make thus right. For the cost of the meals we expected good food and good service. We got neither. I have since emailed the restaurant prior to placing this review and no response at all. I would recommend staying away from this restaurant.

We've visited Roberto's many times in years past. This year, due to the pandemic, we opted to get takeout. Everything we ordered was hot when we picked it up, and tasted just as fresh and great as when we've dined in. All of the food was packaged well and the staff we engaged with were very friendly. It would've been even better if the specials were posted somewhere online so we could easily see them prior to calling to order.

Went there for dinner with family on July 3rd had reservations for 6:00 apps finally came at 7:30 none at the same time ! We told the waitress we were leaving at 8:00 if we didn’t get our dinners ! Some came at 8:00 and 15 minutes later some more came out . 2 of the dinners were not cooked and the seafood was almost raw ( lobster) . We have been here many times over the years and with this experience we will not be back ! Nobody offered us any explanation or apology ! Many of the tables around us had the same experience and some people walked out ! Very sad !

My husband and I dined there last weekend, Roberto's has been one of our favorites for many years and we try to sit at the bar as we are "bar people". I made a reservation and requested the bar or bar area and luckily we were seated there. I wish we had gotten a table in the dining room. The food was very good, no complaints there but the service was just awful and the owner sat in the bar the entire time drinking with the locals! Bartender was very unfriendly, never cracked a smile, nothing. Never asked us how everything was and when we requested something (like another cocktail) he had his 2nd in command get it so we had to wait for that guy. Owner never asked "how was everything"? or thanked us for coming in...nothing. I will say that the food was very good as usual but it did not make up for the service at all. Very disappointing, next trip we'll be going to another local Italian restaurant that came highly recommended by a local gentleman who sat at the bar next to us.

The only good thing to say is that I’m glad we were there with our friends. It made the hour+ wait for bread tolerable.
Our server seemed annoyed from the moment we sat down. Unacceptable wait times for drinks, water, food, etc.
We ordered a bottle of wine, the wrong wine was delivered initially and in then we were overcharged for it.
If only the food would have made up for this all! But nope.

I must be honest. The pizza was like eating cardboard with watery red sauce on top. It was just horrible. $21.95 for a simple margarita pizza plus $2.25 for every topping. Very small side salads….$9.95. Soda $3.25. Pizza had very little of the watery red sauce on it so we asked for more sauce ……$3.50. I’m very sorry to say that it was overall a terrible dinner experience. Won’t be going back.
