We tried to make a reservation, left two message but was not called back. We took a chance and went anyways. We arrived when they first opened & were seated immediately. We did tell the hostess about no one calling us back, she just shrugged...her shoulders. She had an accent and did not speak good English, maybe she didn't understand us?? We waited a full 15 minutes before anyone even came over to us. We waived a young man serving water down. He came over & gave us water. He said our server would be right with us. Waited again and no one was waiting on us. Waived him down again, he tapped a woman on the shoulder, she finally came over. Her name was Jen, she went on and on about what a good waitress she is & apologized. We just wanted a drink & a menu, not her life story. We found it very strange that she had on a mask with large clown lips and teeth. It was very inappropriate that an employee would wear a mask so ridiculous in a fine dining restaurant. We finally got our drinks, had to ask twice for bread. Our food was very good but the service was terrible. Jen never once came over to ask how our food was. She finally made it over after we were completely finished. Again our food was very good but the service was terrible.More

We've visited Roberto's many times in years past. This year, due to the pandemic, we opted to get takeout. Everything we ordered was hot when we picked it up, and tasted just as fresh and great as when we've dined in. All of the food...was packaged well and the staff we engaged with were very friendly. It would've been even better if the specials were posted somewhere online so we could easily see them prior to calling to order.More

upon entering the restaurant i was very impressed. Clean, nice atmosphere, quite mummer of guests. Once seated i noticed all the guest were wearing jackets. Our waitress greeted us and tried to light a candle on the table, it kept blowing out. all the windows...in the room we were seating in were open. I told her this was the first time we had been there and the first time we had been out to dinner in a long time. I then asked if she could close the windows. She did not answer, not sure if she was really listening to me as she walked away. i asked the other guests if they minded if i closed the windows... they replied please do. i closed the windows, it started to warm up in the room, folks took off their jackets and she came back in and opened up all the windows. I asked her to close them since it was about 55 degrees in the room. She said something about the AC. I didn't quite understand her reply. We decided to order. The bread was great, both my wife and i could not eat our meals... i could not cut the eggplant with my knife it was as tough as leather and tasted just as bad. i tried 2 bites and could not get through it. my wife ordered the chicken palm and had a similar experience. We mentioned to the waitress that the meal was not very good at all and we were struggling to eat it. The tomato sauce on top of the meal tasted like it just came out of a can. We could taste metal, maybe it was in a pan for a long time. She did not apologize and suggested we try the meatballs. So we ordered a side. 2 balls covered in the same Sause. I thought the eggplant was bad, we struggled to cut the balls with a folk, they were extremely tough. When we tried to eat them they were so overly salted they were not eatable. We told the waitress of our dissatisfaction, we did not eat more than 2 bites of each of our meals and left 1 and 3/4 of the meatballs. She asked us if we wanted a to go box and all i could thing of is my dog will not eat this. She did not appear to be concerned in the least. The place was busy and we could not understand how. Do folks not know what good food is? Or are they just happy to be out of their home for a few hours and freeze while eating with their jackets on, so the waitresses are not inconvenienced by getting a bit hot waiting on folks. This was an awful experience and i am glad we did not try an entertain guests... i would have been embraced. Oh ya our bill was over $150. and we tipped the waitress. We stopped on the way home and grabbed some dinner.More

The food was terrific. The staff was more than terrific. We had several different dishes and each was better than the other. Outdoor dining was fine and actually quite nice. The wait statff and the bar tenders were over the top. John and Alex were...great and hope to see them again.More

I thought I was going to try a new dish, and there are plenty to choose from, but I stuck with my usual lobster ravioli's and they didn't disappoint!! Even ended the night with chocolate layer cake. They have 2 big tents outside with patio...heaters inside which made it very comfortable.More

Just had dinner at Roberto’s for the second night in a row.We had to come back for the lobster bisqué.Although the restaurant was super busy, our food still arrived pretty quickly and was well worth the wait. Our waitress Jen was extremely attentive as were the other...staff members and this helped the time pass seamlessly between courses. The food, drinks and atmosphere were spot on.Thank you Jen,for making a wonderful dining experience.Your a Rock Star.More

The service was great. Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. They have a parking lot which isn't always the case at restaurants in Ongunquit. The food was disappointing so would try one of the many other nearby restaurants.
