Went there on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We were lucky, having only a 20 minute wait. Right after we got in, the line was out the door. It is definitely a small place but the breakfast was great. The home-made corn beef hash was awesome as was everything else. Good service too!

I have had the best breakfast and bloody mary there. We tried dinner and I was very disappointed.I recommend breakfast only.

Went here with the intention of getting in on the $1.00 Oyster Happy Hour and was impressed by how fresh and tasty these Maine harvested little buggers on the half shell really were. Two of us ended up scarfing down 3-dozen of these bad boyz and every on was deee-liscous indeed. The cocktails and wine we had along with this... More

Hot Suppa is a small restaurant on Congress St in Portland, Maine. Atmosphere small, cramped and noisy. They don’t take reservations. If you don’t get there early plan to wait forever in the small cramped foyer with no seating. The menu has limited selections. My wife is a grits fanatic so she ordered grits fries with a jalapeno aioli sauce... More

The food, waitress, ambiance and entire experience of this breakfast was wonderful. We went around 8:45 on a weekday and did not have to wait for a table, as so many reviews forewarn. The grits were comfort food. Great eggs and cappacino. Especially nice waitress. A wonderful way to start your day in Portland!

Walked here for a quick breakfast by myself. The wait is long (45 minutes for a table), but luckily there are 5 seats at a small bar - and there were two open, so I grabbed one and sat down. I ordered the pastrami hash with two eggs and grits. The hash was very flavorful, grits were creamy and delicious... More

My husband and I went to Portland for a weekend getaway with the goal of doing lots of walking and tasting all the amazing food people kept telling us about. We ate at Hot Suppa for a late breakfast on a Friday. We had to wait about half an hour for a table, but I would do it again in... More

We've been in Portland for the month of February, and have gone to Hot Suppa 3 or 4 times, each time as enjoyable as the last. Wonderful soup on a cold and windy day, hearty breakfasts, friendly and warm environment, eager to please the customer. We visit the City 2 or 3 times a year, and always - always -stop... More

The worst we can say is that the seating is cramped if your party is >4...but our 5th didn't complain, so there you have it! The small space is cozy and visually appealing. The large chalkboard with special menu items, drinks, etc. is visible from all points, and the vibe is unpretentious with an undercurrent of "gonna be good". Our... More

Busy, but we were able to grab a couple of seats at the bar. Bartender was great! Knowledgeable about the menu without being overbearing- just the right amount of attention. We made it for happy hour and enjoyed a dozen oysters on the half shell served with house made cocktails sauce with fresh horseradish. Dinner was the tea brined fried... More

The menu at Hot Suppa is all made from scratch from quality ingredients; local goods are used whenever possible. Our renowned breakfast and lunch are served seven days a week, so you can get that corned beef hash fix whenever you’re jonesing. Dinner is available five nights a week, featuring our favorite dishes, like fried chicken & a waffle, falafel salad, and Maine oysters on the half shell. We offer a full bar service if you care to relax into the evening with a Porch Swing cocktail, or recover in the morning with a spicy Bloody Mary or cold draft beer.
