We were visiting our son yesterday who is a college student in Portland. He has been to The Local Press several times & suggested it for a quick lunch. Wow, we were blown away with the sandwich choices & the variety of ingredients in them! Two of us chose the Notorious Pig & hubby got the Reuben. Both amazing! The... More

The Local Press is the kind of place you might drive by for ages as you run around town on errands, thinking "I should stop in there sometime, everyone says it's great." Then when you do, you think "Jeezum, I should've come here long time ago, this place IS great!" In a city known for food, Local Press sure holds... More

We came all the way from Alaska and stumbled upon The Local Press by accident as we searched for a healthy lunch in our general vicinity. We felt so fortunate we did! The owner really goes out of his way to be personable, makes sure you get what you want, and his sidekick chef is AWESOME! The Carmel apple cheesecake... More

Very small makes it very personal - I had the Reuben, my husband the chowder, and salad - guy off the street bragged the apple Carmel cheesecake,so we ate that, too! It was all the best!!! Owner was very friendly - lots of take out orders!! You will not be disappointed!! TRY THE LOCAL PRESS!

This is now my absolute favorite place to stay in Portland. The staff is super friendly from the cleaners to the servers in Union. Inkwell is great and Arielle is an awesome bartender. The food in Union is unique and very good.

This little spot serves great, well crafted sandwiches. The paninis are super and the bread is light and tender, better than any other that I have tried. There is a long list of sandwiches, a couple of fresh soups and plenty of good eating to go around. The staff is friendly and laid back but the sandwiches come out quickly.... More

A friend recommended The Local Press to me so I stopped in to grab a sandwich. I loved everything about it! I got The Dude and it was delicious!

Perfect sandwiches and soup with a great homey atmosphere. Sandwiches made right in front of you in a perfectly organized prep area right behind the bar made out of pennies. The owner/chef is amazing and friendly. The Beacon St sandwich and a cup of Rundown soup is my new go to.

We chanced upon Local Press on a quick drive through Portland after a red-eye flight into Boston that morning. The shop gave us just the nutritious food and comfortable, welcoming local environment we needed! The owner is delightful and shared a story with us about his special curry soup recipe. A must have. Great salad and sandwiches, too.

Found this restaurant when looking for a local place with healthy options after a long day of traveling. We were welcomed by the owner who was very friendly and offered helpful suggestions for menu items. Two of our party had paninis which were stuffed with generous portions of meat, fresh vegetables and local cheeses. I had a salad that was... More
