We had the 5 - course meal for a very reasonable $65 per person. Wine list was good as were the cocktail selections. There is also a chef's choice 7- course meal - but you do not have choices on this menu, so it is for the adventuresome. Table next to us had this and it looked delicious also. We... More

We met old friends for dinner at this classy restaurant and it was so much fun. I don't know what it is with me and red brick walls but it feels so inviting to dine in such an environment. Service was excellent and I really enjoyed their signature dish of truffled lobster macaroni and cheese on such a rainy evening.... More

Every course - salads, cheese board, entrees, and dessert - were absolutely phenomenal. Having dined at most of Portland's best, this is hands down my favorite. Ballet service is friendly, professional, and on point. Courses were times impeccably. I could not recommend this restaurant enough!

Usually, I'll not give any review if a restaurant disappoints. However, as there were 5 of us, and each of us was puzzled--experience did not match the reviews--I felt it imperative to 'speak-up.' The good news: the wine was great but expensive for a very small pour; our waitress was efficient and attentive to this large (demanding, finicky) group; and,... More

We got to choose five small plates which really suited my need to try everything. Nothing disappointed. The pumpkin soup, mussels, fuzzy udder cheese, awesome steak strips and carrot cake were beautifully presented and all delish. Yes there was a huge party so the service was a little slow. However this allowed us to savor the wine and chat. The wine... More

It was our last night in Maine so we decided to push the boat out and try the tasting menu, which we do sometimes in Europe to see a sample of the chef's skills and seasonal foods at their best - hopefully. As one of us loves seafood and the other is allergic to crustaceans, we were a bit of... More

We were extremely pleased with our dining experience. This place gets it right: service, food, atmosphere, right down to the small details that separates a very good restaurant from an excellent restaurant. Try the tasting menu and pair it with their wine selections. We loved it!

My girlfriends surprised me with reservations here after my engagement. Said they called weeks in advance. They had a congratulations card along with a bottle of wine on the table when we arrived! We were seated a little late but we weren't bothered. We got a combination of cheese as a starter ($15 worth fed all 3 of us) and... More

My dear friend took me for a birthday dinner. It was exquisite. Though a little pricey, it was well worth it. We enjoyed every bit of the experience!

My husband and I visited 555 on a Saturday night (reservations needed!). It was filled to capacity but we were seated immediately, right on time. From start to finish this was a quality experience. The ambiance is great - white tablecloths and nice settings, and they get it right on the noise level so that, despite the number of guests,... More
