We stayed across the street and decided to give Tony's a try. The donuts were good and coffee hot. Friendly non pushy staff. While munching our quick breakfast at least 15 people came and went. Very popular.

I think this is my 3rd trip to Tony's and I'm a sucker for their old school mom & pop shop. Lots of flavors but it surprises me they don't have any frosted donuts. There are other interesting ones like molasses glazed (or non glazed) and many other baked items to choose from. I was a little bummed that there... More

Been around a long time and locals as well as tourists love it there. Personally, I think the donuts are just OK. I prefer the cinnamon sugar donuts at another bakery located in South Portland. I will give Tony's another try and hope for the best. When they had a branch in South Portland (for over a year), the coffee... More

Tucked away on a little street off Congress west of downtown Portland is the source of the best doughnuts I have ever had. In a friendly shop where one can get doughnuts, coffee or a bit more.I first tasted their product at a local store in Portland suburbs where theywere a featured pastry item. Then my brother learned the source. We went... More

The kids ask to go to Tony's every weekend, it is hard to say no when we all love it. We all have our favorites: mine is the molasses. The front cases are full of other baked goods including lemon squares.

This place is a local's gem, hidden away next to Congress Street. Old time Italian bakery, complete with smart older folks chatting at the tables - they know where to get the best pastries in town. Their cream horns are the best I've ever tasted.

Purchased a dozen assorted crullers at So. Portland location in the morning as a treat for a visiting out-of-town guest. Tried them with coffee that afternoon. The glazed crullers were heavy, with a stale texture. Unglazed were ok, but still not as fresh as expected. Called the number on the box to comment on this..asked if their products were made... Furthermore, these are the best jelly donuts ever. They are moist, good sized, and have a lot of jelly. You can get them powdered, glazed, or with granulated sugar coating them. I also love their bismarks. (If you don't know, that's two longer donuts with a very sweet cream filling and jelly in the middle of the sandwich.) The coffee's... More

I heard they were good and finally stopped by to try them. I got a raised glazed and a strawberry jelly. The texture of the dough is different from what I'm used to. Not too much glaze but there was a sweetness to the dough itself so it didn't need much glaze at all. The strawberry jelly had not glaze... More
