After leaving a poor review over a year ago, we decided to give this restaurant another chance. We were not disappointed....the dining area was remodeled, clean, and the waitress was fantastic. We ordered eggrolls, springrolls, wonton soup, lomein, fried rice, and chicken and broccoli and...we loved it all. We will be going back and we highly recommend them!More

The portions are very big but not really very good. Many dishes all taste the same. Crab rangoons have a very bad flavor and after taste. Rice was very dry. The teriyaki steak and chicken was very good though.

Dont know where to begin. Most of the help is American and not Chinese...kinda a red flag right there. The food poor...first time i left a Chinese restaurant still hungry The pork fried rice had a strange after taste, like burnt and dry. The other...customers were loud and obnoxious. Belching and laughing ..l..Was like a prison mess hall atmosphere And the parking lot was full of trucks with local yahoos doing donuts The other reviewer was right. This was the worst Chinese place ever.More

I have a particular fondness for Mei Lee Garden in Skowhegan. For years, I lived in Waterville, and occasionally on Sundays, I'd bring my elderly mother for a ride to Skow Town, and we'd always stop at Mei Lee. There used to be a "sister...restaurant" to Mei Lee Garden in Waterville called "Mei Lam Lau," and the décor and set-up were very similar. So was the food. Alas, Mei Lam Lau went out of business years ago, but I'm happy to report their legacy is carried on by Mei Lee. The restaurant's located in a strip mall that was once pretty much abandoned, but now there's been a revitalization, and business is booming. That's good! Menu-wise, Mei Lee has everything you could possibly want in Chinese food, and it's tasty, spicy, filling and served quickly. Once in a while, my mom would choose the scallop dish, which really is the best deal I've ever seen for a scallop plate! The wait staff is polite, the atmosphere peaceful and quiet, and the prices are moderate. Really, what more could you ask for? Skowhegan is a surprising town. Kind of off the beaten track, it really has quite a few interesting and unique things to offer. Look at the Skowhegan Drive-In, for example, and the Strand Cinema. Then there's Ken's and Mei Lee and Whit's End...why, the choices are remarkably varied. If you're looking for an incredible Chinese restaurant, look no further than Mei Lee Garden. I'd go so far as to say is the best Chinese in Skowhegan, bar none!More

Ate there and was not disappointed. Wonton soup was delish! Service was good too. Food was very hot you could tell it was fresh. Yummy. We will go back again.

We were seated with just a few minutes wait on a busy Sunday at about 1pm. We waited maybe 10 minutes before a waitress appeared announcing abruptly, "I don't know who's supposed to have you or if I am, but I'll grab your order." Our...drinks arrived a few minutes later, our food 20 minutes after that. We didn't see our waitress again until we flagged her down for the check. The food wasn't awful, but it certainly wasn't anything worth a return visit. The brown sauce on my beef and broccoli was partially congealed and the rice bordering on greasy. I'm guessing everything else on the table started out in a frozen bulk container. The last time I visited was over 20 years ago, and not a thing has been updated even a little bit since then; serving dishes, menu, light fixtures, dirty ceiling tiles, wall decor, dated "flaming PuPu Platter"... it was nearly perfectly preserved in time, and not in a good way. If I ever return again it certainly won't be any sooner than another 20 years.More
