People rave about Red's, wait in line for hours beside the backed up trucks on Rt. 1, and crowd onto the small deck when they could go across the street, park easily, order quickly, and enjoy excellent lobster rolls and much else on the pier at Sprague's.

On the way back from picking a friend up at the airport, we stopped in at Sprague's for dinner. It was a week night in September and there were no line. The food was good. Neither of us opted for lobster - it just seemed too expensive. I have fish and chips and my friend has a fish sandwich. My... More

I suppose Red's across the street is as good as everyone says, but after having Sprague's I have to wonder if it would be worth the wait. With what looked like at least a 15 minute line wait to order at Red's I walked up ordered and took away two very tasty rolls in maybe 10 or so. It's expensive,... More

Stopped here for a lobster roll. Place across the street had a line too long to wait in, so I tried here. Lobster roll had plenty of lobster, good toasted bun, but the lobster roll lacked much flavor. It was basically just lobster on a bun. It was high quality lobster, but it should have been tastier. And the price... More

Ordered a twin lobster meal , clam chowder and a 2.6 lb large lobster steamed . The lobsters were fresh and cooked to perfection . The chowder was also very tasty. We watched the lines grow across the street at reds and also visited the dairy car museum across the dock . A wonderful piece of history. A great place... More

So after having had a few lobster rolls and seeing the line across the street, I thought I would give this place a try. They do have a great location and nice picnic tables but the food does not make up for it. The lobster roll was bland. The lobster was bland, the butter on the side tasted more like... More

Located just across US1 from Red’s, Sprague's offers a very similar menu, but without the reputation and without the crowds. It’s much less pretentious, and you can get anything from a complete lobster dinner to a hot dog. It’s clearly a family business, and seems to cater primarily to tourists passing through Wiscasset. It’s located on a pier platform right... More

Went with my parents and 12 year old son and were thrilled with entire experience! Eating outside on picnic tables with shade was delightful, clean and spacious. My lobster roll was huge and just delicious! My son and father each ordered 2 lb. lobsters that came with a mallet to crack open. My son loved that. My mother ordered the... More

The best kept secret in MidCoast Maine. Everyone says that the place across the street is the place to go to get a lobster roll. You can can get the same lobster roll at Sprague's and avoid standing in line for 45 minutes. The lobster rolls are how I like it. Over a pound of steamed chilled lobster meat on... More
