Have visited Chestertown every year for 4 years while my daughter was a student at Washington College. And every time The Fish Whistle has been the place to dine. The view of the Chester River is both calming and captivating. Always enjoy the opportunity to have a gastronomic experience. This visit, it was the Shepherd's pie! Yum!

We were here following a funeral for a family member. From the assistance of Betty to set the buffet for us, to the excellant service from our waitresses, Kelly and Denise, to the quality of all the food - it was all wonderful! Definitely recommend this restaurant for a couple, or a large group. Their creme brulee is to die... More

Walked here from the Lemon Leaf, totally opposite experience. Good views from the Chester River, waitress explained there would be a short delay. Hostess helped get our drinks. We ordered our food, which came out in a reasonable time. Had the Shrimp and Catfish jambalaya, which had a bite to it, but was not too spicy, friend had a crab... More

With the end of oyster season appoaching, we were up for finding a place in close proximity to Rock Hall, MD were we could get our fill of these wonderful bivavles. Our search brought us to Fish Whistle in Chestertown, MD which features a Thursday "All-You-Can-Eat" Oyster Buffet. If the idea of consuming a medley of oysters prepared in several... More

I only had an appetizer and a salad, my husband had ribs. Our bill was over $60. What we had was very good, but it seemed a bit pricey. Perhaps the price is high because of the location on the bay. We were seated beside a very LOUD party of six that made our evening a bit short. The place... More

When visiting Chestertown, this a a great, unpretentious lunch/dinner restaurant to enjoy local fare and be riverside (outdoor patio available). We enjoyed both lunch (salads) and dinner here. For dinner we had the beet salad and the hearts of romaine. For dinner, we both enjoyed the Crab Cakes which were tasty. A nice selection of moderately priced wines and beers... More

My oysters were in the water yesterday. It does not get any better. Enjoyed foue fried oysters and chicken salad with salad, a local staple. One of the best lunches in a long time. Denise was terrific... More

Beautiful location and view of river dock! Typical fish-type restaurant. Does not pretend to be anything other than it is (e.g., "Thirsty Thursday dink specials")--which is commendable. Good value. Average food. Certainly enjoyable going to. Portions generous. Potato salad/cold slaw salad bland. Grilled chicken sandwich tasty. Somehow out of some beers, when we were there. Not a food destination restaurant,... More

Let me just say this is a very nice setting on the river. The staff was incredibly nice. Menu had good selections. I was quite disappointed with the food however. One person in our party had steak, it was terrible. It was cooked to order but must have been poor quality of meat. Seafood was OK at best. Great location,... More
