We've been visiting here for over half a century. It never changes. (Farnham's doesn't control market price of clams.) Consistent. Besides clams the haddock sandwiches are fresh. If grilled, a variety of seasonings are available. Mine was a little heavy on the lemon pepper. Totally self-serve, including cleaning up your own table. Cash only.

After a several year hiatus from coming here, by grandparents and I returned for lunch. The food was as remembered: the fried sole was light, fresh, and not overpowered by the thin batter. The onion rings that it came with were served piping hot with a thin batter coating it. The pasta salad with its light vinaigrette base perfectly complimented... More

Fried seafood at its freshest and most delicious. Eat in the rough tables on the beautiful Essex marshlands, or indoor dining. Not fancy, just plain good. There will be lines at lunch and dinner time, but nothing like the craziness at Woodman's just down the street. I grew up here and can tell you...the food is better at Farnham's. Portions... More

Disappointed because I heard so many good things about this place. I wanted to find an alternative to Woodman's that had outdoor seating. We will not be going back to Farnham's. Mediocre at best and what's up with "cash only"? What year is this?

We had our annual trek to this restaurant today. The fried clams are delicious and fresh- not greasy, not soggy- they are tasty and perfect. The onion rings are ultra thin, crispy and not greasy. Not a healthy meal but this place is ultra clean with great food and worth the splurge. Highly recommend.

We have been going here for decades. Always good...Today I decided to change it up and splurge and get the two way combo plate with scallops and clams and my husband got the Fisherman's plate. He always gets this... me the calamari plate always and last time the haddock tacos...loaded with sauce. The food did not take long before it... More

Farnhams has the best scallops and onion rings in Essex! The scenery is breathtaking! You can take out your food and sit outside at a picnic table overlooking the beautiful marsh land!

So the rumor is, "this is where the locals go". They must frequent this place when all they can do is walk, given the pretty poor parking situation. I didn't really understand the town signs across the street, what area can't you park in? We didn't get a ticket, maybe they only do that at the height of tourist season... More

We ate a late lunch here and all four of us thought our meals were delious. The staff was very friendly and answered all of our newbie questions about clams, lobster rolls and chowder. Our girls had their first meal of fried clams and both enjoyed it, and said they would order again if given the chance. My husband and... More

Farnham's is an old fashioned fried fish place. The fish is local, fresh and really good. I love their Clam Chowder. You can eat out on picnic tables and look out over the salt marshes, it's a pretty view.
