We've dined here several times, probably 50% of the time that we have dinner in Gloucester. I love the Azorean specialties in the daily specials - last time I had blowfish! Another time it was cheeses of the Azores, and another time octopus. The fish is always excellent, especially the cataplana dishes. The wines include some Azorean wines by the... More

I am a resident of Gloucester and have been to all of the resteraunts in town. This is one of my favorites which I go to once a week. During the winter months there are great nightly specials. For a reasonable price you can get a good portion of good food. I always sit at the bar, and the staff... More

This was our third visit to the Azorean. The first two times were excellent, last night was barely average. Started off with us having to ask twice for water, which never came with the lemon I requested. Ravioli app was overcooked to the point that the pasta was too chewy to eat (it was pan fried). I ate the filling... More

From tapas to apps to main courses - have never been disappointed. On the last visit we started with a couple of tapas plates - roasted potatoes with hot finger peppers and the fava beans with chourico. Both were fantastic. Mains included pork aletejana and a Cataplan fish plate. Both outstanding. The bonus is an excellent wine list (mostly Portuguese... More

Many of my acquaintances (we all live in this area) really like this restaurant, and have had food they thought was great (I can't remember the specific dishes). For me personally, the food was a little below average. I think I had fish and chips. The atmosphere is very comfortable, but I wouldn't rave about the food.

We had dinner at the Azorean the other night, wanting a change from the usual fare in this area. We were seated in a booth, which was good for private conversation. I ordered wine from the not very impressive wine list - inexpensive but not very good. I ordered the grilled octopus and my wife ordered the whole grilled fish.... More

Great local Portuguese Restaurant. Really good food with a local flair. The atmosphere makes you feel that you actually in a restaurant in Portugal. The Tappas are one of our favorites! And if I don't get the Tappas, the scallop casserole is excellent!

This was a fine Azorean/Portuguese restaurant, specializing in Tapas. The portions were large and everything was quite good. They had a Tapas Tower (which is pretty much what it sounds like) but we decided we were not quite that daring.

But it must be said - salty, salty food. The decor is very attractive and the dining area is spotlessly clean.

Food was meh, and I have been here many times and loved the food. Had pork tenderloins and they were dry. Pounded very thin, and cooked. Served with rice & their fries ( too much carbs) Service good & no one else had any complaints. Would think they tended to overcook due to being pork, but would have been more... More
