After talking about visiting this bistro for a while, we were finally in the area and decided to stop in for lunch. Touted as a French style bistro, we were interested in the cuisine, which is decidedly French in flavor. One enters and orders at a counter. The menu is either printed or on the wall. I ordered the croque... More

This is a unique experience. The baker is literally behind the dining area, and you can see through the window the bakers hard at work. The wait staff was very efficient and courteous. The food was very good. My husband had a fish entree, I had the steak pomme frittes. My meal was very good taste wise, but could have... More

Had this at lunch with my granddaughter and it was moist with loads of Raspberry jam. Liked it so much that I ordered five for a brunch. There was hardly any raspberry jam in them, in fact we brought them back and got another dessert. Very disappointed.

Cafe M, Manager at Pain D'Avignon, responded to this review

Dear Dot N, We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with our raspberry 'streusel', as we do not sell 'strudel', we can only assume you meant the former. It is to our understanding that the entire staff was beyond accommodating to you with replacing the desserts at no extra charge, while understanding that all of our pastries are free-form... More

I did not have a meal but a took a loaf of bread to go and a couple of treats. The oatmeal cranberry orange cookies are amazing you have to try one.they also have fresh squeezed juices. The atmosphere inside is great, although when you first get there it looks like it is inside if a garage (it is also... More

We discovered this gem of restaurant the second morning of our visit to the Cape, and went back every morning thereafter because why would you go someplace else when you've already found the perfect place?! Everything about the place was authentically French, most especially and most importantly the coffee and the food. They bake all of their baguettes, breads and... More

KLawrenceP, We cannot express the amount of gratitude we have for your detailed review in words. Rarely do we see positive reviews written on TripAdvisor, for our establishment or any other. On the extraordinary occasion that we receive a positive review, we never hear such descriptive feedback that addresses all aspects of our restaurant. It takes a review such as... More

Their breakfasts are out of this world. Homemade bread, great coffee and all the other things you're looking for.

This review is not about the food, as we were not seated. I made a reservation for two a few days ahead. The occasion was my birthday. I was looking forward to a leisurely experience where we could savor a complete dinner, including appetizers, dessert, drinks and wine. We arrived a few minutes early on a rainy February evening. About... More

Hello Sharon: Happy belated birthday! So sorry to learn that you and your dinner date chose to leave before you were able to enjoy Chef Christophe's, authentic and uncommonly delicious cuisine. I understand that you were unhappy with our table choices. It can be frustrating not to have your expectations fulfilled. However, in all fairness, the 2 women you mentioned,... More

I met a woman who worked at PDA at a farmer's market in Boston in the fall & she told me I had to eat at their place so after two tries when it was super packed we managed to have lunch last Friday. As mentioned it is a bit pricey for semi self service and portion size but everything... More

Out of the way location. Gem of a restaurant. Located in building with bakery and take out service. First class food and service. Waitstaff and bartenders are topnotch. Daily specials, outside seating in nice weather. Favorite spot is at the Red Bar. Always an enjoyable experience.

We have been there for dinner a few times, the food and drinks - beer, cocktails - were excellent every time. The place also has a bakery and the bread alone is worth the visit. We try to go there every time we are at the Cape.
