Had a reservation at 6 for 6 to celebrate two birthdays. Waited almost a half hour for our table. Did not know we would have to go upstairs. Very difficult for one of our party. The many real candles in glass chimneys were pretty but could hardly see our food. also very small crowded room with only exit being stairs.... More

Recently went there for a birthday dinner. As one who likes the colonial/tavern atmosphere, the 1640 Hart House did not disappoint. Great food, huge drinks and very good service. If you want to be seated in the tavern/bar side you must be in line before opening at 4:30 p.m. Would recommend to folks who like a New England atmosphere and... More

Overall exceptional restaurant and tavern. The staff, menu, ambiance and patrons are awesome. Never had a bad experience, wether stopping in just for late lunch or dinner. The menu is fantastic and fairly priced. Try them out you will not be disappointed and you will be back.

A wonderful destination for great home cooked food. Very large menu selection and portions are large. Staff is super friendly and the pub is cozy. French onion soup is the best that can be found on the planet.

In previous reviews you can read that The Hart House is a warm inviting Tavern and Restaurant in the beautiful town of Ipswich, Ma. It was a cold winters' night when we arrived. Fires were blazing. The Tavern was buzzing. I took a tour (it was our first time there) to check out the dining rooms...cozy and inviting and warm.... More

The Hart House is a find dining experience in a historic building that has been an or tavern as far back as anyone now living can remember. The various dining rooms are cozy, especially in winter when fires are lit in the fireplaces. The menu and wine list are up-to-date, yet familiar. The Hart House is widely known for the... More
