After twenty-some years living in Methuen, I just discovered this little gem for Anglophiles and others. This is a small grocery store and butcher with a selection of products from the United Kingdom. The meat pies were delicious, though slightly different from the kind I usually get in the UK. The meat is ground and holds together. The crust was... More

Not only do they have the best meat pies, the people working here are just the nicest. We go at least once week. Top notch food and employees!

We enjoy a mix of pork, tomato sausage, Italian sausage, chicken and broccoli pies. Makes for a belly warming appetizer before the big game. The pies heat up nicely on the grill, keeping the pastry crispy and filling hot.

I tried the pork and turkey meat pies from Thwaites at the recommendation of a coworker while working in Methuen. They were both delicious. I also tried one of the Scotch eggs. I wasn't a fan of that, but I'm sure some people would find them delicious. I found the Scotch egg heavy and greasy. Overall, though, the meat pies... More

The recipes stay the same, and the results stay the same. This place can be summed up as a place where you try it once, because a family member or a friend introduce you to these pies, and the next day, you crave more of them. You will not find a better, "off the main road market" any where.

Never, ever in my 50+ life I had such a great pie! The place has all kind of pies, there are small and big ones and variety of types: cheese and onion, chicken, apple, pork, Italian, many more, altogether more than 20!. They are not expensive and taste great, especially they are made right on premises, while you wait. Each... More

I was at a loss when Thwaites Market was listed as the best restaurant in Methuen. It is not a restaurant so much as a take out market. There are no tables and chairs. However, you will not be disappointed with the meat pies. I took home beef, pork and lamb pies. I wanted to try all three. I was... More

This place has been around forever & has the best little pies around. While they do carry other things (it is a small market ) they are best known for their pork pies. They now have many other kinds other than pork, but pork is still my favorite. Its worth the trip to try one of these delicacies !!

We've been shopping at Thwaites for over 40 years. They have the absolute best small meat pies. Their pork, chicken, turkey and many, many other pies are perfect for lunch or dinner, or even a quick snack. Their meats are also terrific, especially their own home-made sausages. They make many other delicious foods such as gorton, toutiere pies and baked... More
