Although we have been travelling to the Cape from the U.K. for many years, this was our first chance to dine at Blackfish. The reason is that we usually spend a week there in mid to late October and Blackfish has usually been closed for the season by then. It has been recommended by many friends over the years so... Dream of their mussels funnel sausage and cream sauce and their butter poached lobster all year long. Great wine list. Their food truck is great too.

We had a wonderful meal last night at Blackfish. My drink was well made and ample, our sole was excellent, and the bread was very tasty. Our waitress was competent and helpful. This is now my go to restaurant on Cape Cod.

This was fine food from an eclectic menu at this popular spot in Truro on the outer Cape. We knew of the restaurant's reputation, so weren't surprised at the food preparation. We were there on a quiet Sunday evening in late September and think perhaps the staff (friendly and food-savvy) is accustomed to quickly turning around tables in the very... More

We were lucky enough to get a reservation for my birthday in the garden room. Both my hubbie and I had the fois gras appetizer that was heavenly - generous amount, served with toast and raspberry sauce underneath. We only ordered one entrée, as my husband was not well. I got the lamb loin "special" that consisted of an eggplant... More

So many wonderful things to say about this place. Staff is superb, well-informed and there when you need them without being overbearing. Probably the best mussels I've ever had (or tied with now gone Casablanca). I had a really wonderful risotto, my companions both had fish, all dishes excellent. Good wine list and tasty dessert. We will be back!

Originally the Blacksmith Shop Restaurant back in the 60s and 70s, Blackfish is a pampered and snobbish dining experience for those interested in menu items like foie gras and morels. The ambiance is romantic, casual and eclectic. Candlelight, brown paper table coverings with linen napkins. Ragout, risotto, reductions spiced with strange combinations, such as fried chicken with watermelon as an... More

When a restaurant opens to stellar reviews and keeps it up for five or more years we worry it might rest on its laurels. We did not go to the Cape last year so we wondered about Blackfish. Well wonder no more. The service was stellar, the food wonderful and we went early at 5:30 so there were only about... More

A classy yet comfortable candlelit, brick-walled, intimate dining experience. My husband swooned with the first bite of his gourmet burger with truffle cheese and caramelized onions. My fish was perfectly cooked fresh-caught crispy skin haddock prepared with pea purée. Dessert was also perfect.

We heard great things about this place and it lived up to the hype. You need to make your reservations a few weeks in advance in the summer time, but they do have a nice lounge and it seemed like parties of two can dine at the bar or lounge tables without a reservation. The decor is more Cape than... More
