We were in Winchendon over the weekend, and decided to find someplace interesting to eat lunch. I remembered Harbour from decades ago, so we stopped in. It was only a so-so experience.
First, I'll say that the service was fantastic. No complaints.
The facility itself,...at least at noon on a Sunday, is a strange experience. You enter through the main entrance, directly into what looks like a restaurant that is no longer in business. Then you wrap around into a dark hallway that feeds into the Pub. It's hard to say for sure, but we wondered if the pub is the only part of the business that's still in operation?
The pub is comfortable, and the menu selections extensive. Burgers and sandwiches, all the way up to pasta dishes, seafood, and other entrees. Prices are a bit on the high end for what you are getting, but not outrageous.
We had the "Haddock Ruben". Interesting concept, and sounded good, but the execution was lacking. It's a huge piece of fried fish on a very small roll, with lots melted cheese on top. Forget eating it without a fork and knife. And, honestly, the cheese doesn't work that well with the fish. It was not bad, and we both finished it. But it's not compelling.
Would we stop in again? Probably not. It's not that Harbour was bad. It just left us with the feeling that there were other more interesting options that could be sought out.More
