Apparently, thimbleberries grow like weeds all over the place in the UP, so Carmelitas decided to make margaritas with them, and they are very tasty! Their other margaritas & the food is also very good. Nice atmosphere. We enjoyed it very much!

Been here a few times over the past three years. Always fresh and great tasting food. The guacamole is always yummy! Just the right amount of seasoning. We've had the pork burrito, the chicken with lime cream sauce, and pepper. This visit I ordered the Anaheim peppers. The are stuffed with chorizo, rice, dried fruit with a chili con queso... More

We stopped after a long hike in the black creek area and had a wonderful dinner, My son and his girlfriend have been here a number of times and we were looking forward to eating here, what a great place in a beautiful old mining town.

We love this place and try to stop in when we come to the Keweenaw. I had the New York steak this last trip and it was melt in your mouth great. Kids had enchilads and chicken strips, they loved them as usual. Our service was fantastic, Kari is just wonderful. She is very knowledgeable and answered our questions with... More

Today was spent snowmobiling the trails of the Keewenaw Pennisula, we needed a stop for lunch and to warm up a little. This funky little Mexican restaurant in Calumet did the trick. Try the Thimbleberry margaritas, very good. We also liked the free refills on the chips and salsa. Great atmosphere and room to park your sled.

You never know what you're going to get. Depending on who's cooking you might get great food or maybe not. No consistency, seafood enchiladas for instance are either fantastic or barely tolerable, Mexican casserole, last time was fantastic, I even craved it, this time, not so much, completely different from the last time in flavor and the way it was... We heard that the food was awful. I'm here to say, this is a must go place. They have a great variety and our party greatly enjoyed the time we were their. We had vegetarians with us and they have a large selection of good choices. They are a little pricey but they had less cost choices too. The only... More
