First time to try Ethiopian food. Went with friends and found the ambiance warm, the service good, and a fun experience. We liked the variety of veggie dishes and ordered one of each meat offered on the menu. Surprisingly light even though I had 3 breads with my meal. Delicious!

It had been about 12 yrs since I've been to this restaurant and I must say that I was quite pleased. They have traditional seating and regular booths. We sat at a regular booth since my husband's back was hurting, which I didn't mind. The Ethiopian tea was delicious. It was hot and had a cinnamon taste that reminds me... More

This feels like an authentic Ethopian restaurant based on experience that I don't have. I've never been to Ethiopia. It is a very limited menu. The chicken was really good, but the veggie stuff that we were served wasn't all that tasty. There were only a couple that I liked. I guess it's a good place to try once but... More

My husband and I have been to at least 50 ethiopian restaurants world-wide and have eaten Ethiopian meals for over 30 years. We decided to dine at the Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant in Ferndale while visiting Southfield Michigan. I often enjoy using ethiopian ingredients/spices in dishes I cook at home. I know my stuff! and our palet is no stranger... More

Excellent vgetarian options. Slow cooked, comfort food with large portion sizes. Friendly and helpful staff. Crowded on weekend evenings. Excellent Ethiopian tea and honey wine!

Authentic, flavorful, full portions, and lots of selections. My friends and I split the vegetarian platter and all enjoyed spiked Ethiopian coffees post-dinner. Love. This. Place.

We celebrated a birthday at the Blue Nile last night and the food was wonderful, as always. The Vegetarian Feast is definitely the way to go. The items on it are unlike anything you'd get at any other type of restaurant. Nicely spiced, and perfectly scooped up with the injera bread. My husband ordered the lamb, as well, and it... More

My husband and I decided to stop here and finally try Ethiopian food. Ezana was our waiter for the evening and he was amazing. There are only two dinner options here which made it easy to order( the vegetarian feast and the meat option feast). Ezana explained each dish to us and checked back with us several times to make... Love the ambiance of the Blue Nile; dark wood, low tables and chairs or booths, very colorful decor covering the ceiling and walls. The menu only shows prices for the vegetarian feast and the Egyptian feast (which requires additional prices to add meat to that option). I tried to order the Egyptian feast with chicken ($17 plus $6 for Chicken)... More
