Why was the kapusta/sauerkraut orange? Mushroom soup was a bowl of grocery store white mushrooms with a splash of chicken broth, a few carrots, and maybe some milk. Seriously? Whole meal was really marginal and the service was terrible. Used to be awesome but I think they're just riding on their previous reputation now.

We stopped here on a Sunday for lunch. You know you're in the right place when there's a line waiting for the restaurant to open. We were not disappointed. The decor is maybe basement speakeasy from the day. Our waitress was helpful, polite and a pleasure. We ordered a variety of dinners, we were all happy with the exception of... More

This is typically a dinner stop for me but stopped in yesterday for a light lunch with friends. The dill soup is a must have.

I'm from Windsor Canada but visit Detroit/Hamtramck regularilly. I cannot recall when I've had a poor meal here in over 30 years. I brought a third generation Polish-Canadian here for his first visit and he had tears coming from his eyes as he told me it was exactly as his 'Bubbi' made it. A dear friend, a second generation Ukrainian,... More

The food is homemade. Very tasty and seasoned to your liking. Recommend the restaurant for people who used to live in Hamtramck and of course people that want to experience the polish food.

I have visited this restaurant with friends quite a few times, and have always been impressed with the food! I usually get the garlic chicken or city chicken with the mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, and dill pickle soup. The soup has a great flavor and is always served nice and hot. The potato pancakes are excellent and served hot as well.... More

The waitress was very rude, snappy answers, no smiles and slow. The coffee was very good. Utensils were dirty, the overall restaurant was dirty and cold. We sat under the vent that "Filthy Place-overrated" commented about. The vent was still caked with yuk. Except for my pork chops the food was cold. The green beans were worn out and obviously... Three of us went there for the first time yesterday for lunch. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, which was expected because we had been warned in advance by other businesses in the area that it would probably be crowded because it's a very popular place to eat. You have to walk down about 6 steps... More

Polish Village Cafe is Eastern European comfort food at it's best. We had excellent soups (Kielbasa and a chicken noodle good enough to make you want to be sick in bed 😁), the cabbage rolls and beef rolls (aka rouladen) were outstanding. Potato pancakes reminded us of the ones my Mom used to make (ask for a side of apple... More

You are basically eating in the basement of an old house-and its filthy! the vents right near your table is caked with a thick layer of dust! The wait staff yell out to you like your cattle hustling you in to wait in line staring right at the dining guests! The polish food is average-when you upgrade the potatoes to... More
