Small restaurant at the first floor of an old building. I had chatamari bara (a sort of rice flour pancake with a crispy bottom and a veg or meat topping) - it was great!

My husband and I both had the non veg Newari set (dhal bhat) and it was very nice indeed. We were the only people in but the staff were very attentive and friendly. The food did take time however we were in no rush with a lovely view into the square and the food was fresh and hot when it... More

I have taken a photograph of this restaurant which clearly shows that the second floor has completely gone. I assume that this damage occurred during the big earthquake of 2015. Access to the first floor restaurant area is by a steep wooden staircase. Watch how much you drink, it's easier going up than it is coming back down! We waited... More

Seems this restaurant was pretty badly rocked by the earthquake.. It certainly looks nothing like the tripadvisor photos that have been uploaded. The tables and chairs look much more.. Simple. And there are no more third floor views as the main photo seems to suggest. When I went it seemed quite dingy and no-frills for sure, and at first I... More

I stopped here for a quick bite after trekking to Changu Narayan and Telkot earlier in the day. I just had the Newari soup and it's delicious! It's kinda sour with all kinds of veggies, soy beans, potatoes etc. def hit the spot on a cold day!

Newa Cchen Restaurant on Dattatraya Square (Tachupal Tole) is a fantastic place for a meal. It is a small, ‘no frills’ place that is attached to a guesthouse, but the food is excellent and more than a bargain. They cook traditional Newari food, and their delicious peanut sandheko (peanut salad) and vegetable bura (lentil pancake) moved this spot up to... More

Very spacious and airy restaurant, open views to the square. Unfortunately not very suitable for rainy weather. Oh and it no longer exists-looks like it was destroyed by an earthquake...

This tiny restaurant is near by to Peacock Guest House in Dattatreya Square, located at corner building on 2nd floor. Served nice simple Newar cuisine, but only if you have time and not in hurry because the serving time is a little slow with a little kitchen at the back. English menu is available for tourist. Had my lunch in... More

We visited this restaurant as it was close to where we stayed. Although it doesn't look as upmarket as some of the other restaurants in the area, the food was great (particularly the chattamari) and was very reasonably priced. We enjoyed our meal so much, we decided to go back the next night. Unfortunately it was full, so make sure... More
