THE place for quality ice cream anytime! Family friendly, wide selection, always packed in summertime. They have food specialties now, I hear it's good for lunch.

Over the last several months this place has gone down. Poor service, waited almost 15 minutes to be acknowledged. Food was ok. Waiters were goofing off behind the counter. I've better places to spend my money.

This place would have gotten an "excellent" if it weren't for the inability of the management to MANAGE the unruly tweens running amuck. I get that it's business, but you have to keep other customers in mind, too. That aside, I had a veggie Reuben and black bean soup and both were fantastic!

The food was not very good, the hashbrown soup was just a big clump of soggy hashbrowns. The thai chicken wrap was tasteless, ice tea was bitter and old. Our waitress was so busy waiting on ice cream parlor people that she didn't have time for us -- but really did seem to try. They are kid friendly though and... More

Was very disappointed with this ice place. Good ice cream, but the kids (not one adult was there supervising) that work there just complain and talk among themselves. Not friendly at all and very unprofessional. Owners son came in and thought he was the boss but didn't offer to help. Bathrooms were not clean.

A restaurant catering to gluten free dining. Homey, not fancy and good food. My son is a cieliac and it was refreshing to find an eating establishment where he didn't feel odd man out. The food was prepared fresh and served in a timely manner. It is a casual atmosphere, so if you're expecting edgy gourmet, you're in for a... More

I took my family here while passing through on our way to Kalamazoo and was surprised at the lack of service. I waited at a table for almost 15 minutes and nobody came to serve us. I asked somebody behind the ice cream counter if someone was going to wait on us and they said that we can just come... More

Stopped in for a treat and treated we were to dellicious Hudsonville Ice Cream brand that they use here. This is Hudsonville Ice Cream territory, one of the best ice creams there is and I am quite the ice cream aficionado. So I had one of their very best flavors, I think. It is called Eskimo Kiss. Simply one of... More

I love The Sugar Bear! Aside from delicious ice cream obviously, the food here is super. The burgers are incredibly delicious! Great place for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free food. I'm not vegetarian but have loved the vegetarian items as much as the meaty items. Excellent food, perfect portions, and open even in the winter. And don't forget to get a fun... More

Locally, family owned restaurant that specializes in allergy friendly menu items and great family service! The owner has Celiac and understands the importance of preparing allergy friendly meals. There is a play area for the children and great ice cream to choose from for dessert. Wraps, Sandwiches, homemade soups, burgers, hot dogs and more. One of the first MI restaurants to feature gluten free, Quinoa and Kale. Not to scare off the burger loving customer, we cater to all. The business is currently up for sale but still operating, hoping to find someone to continue the 40 year tradition of The Sugar Bear.
