Very good food. Varied menu something for everyone. I didn't want the herbs in my risotto and they said no problem. It was delicious 😋

Having failed miserably to (a) find a pub near the amazing canons ashby where we were staying and/or (b) find one that was open we finally stumbled across the old red lion in Litchborough. It's scattered across about 4 rooms but the most interesting part was near the bar with lovely open fire where the locals spent most of the... More

Stopped for lunch whilst out walking. Excellent St Austell brewery Trelawney on tap. Ham egg and chips was turned into a really great dish -chips were fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outer, the ham was honey glazed and thick cut. As we were the only ones there we ate in the bar near the wood burner. All... More

My girlfriend and I came here expecting some top quality food, we'd looked at the menu before hand on the website, but when we arrived we were presented with an A4 piece of paper with a fraction of the dishes we saw on the website. When we got there we had to wait for a good ten minutes for anyone... More

Hi Jack, I am so sorry that you had such a bad impression of The Old Red Lion. My name is Toby and I have been the Chef for the last 14 months, however during the time you visited I had taken a weeks holiday to Portugal as it was a quiet time for the pub so probably the best... More

First visit to this lovely pub, we were meeting up with a group of work colleagues so we could all meet each other as work for the same company but in different areas.. we were served by two members of staff who were Melvina the lovely landlady and Caroline behind the bar... we all ordered from the tapas menu cooked... Lovely warm quiet and relaxing. The dining room was very nice and had a relaxing atmosphere. The menu had a lot of choice including Sunday roast beef, pork or chicken or vegetarian. All very reasonably priced. Home cooked and delicious ! After lunch a game of Northamptonshire skittles. A traditional pub indeed !

Visited the Old Red Lion for Sunday lunch with friends and was greeted by a friendly young lady who showed us to our table, gave us menus and took our order. She was most helpful with our enquiries and brought our drinks order without delay. Our meals, we all chose the roasts, arrived promptly and were lovely. Plenty of delicious... More

Visited with the family and found a warm welcome even with a 4-year old on toe! The children loved playing skittles. We then settled down to a great lunch with scampi & chips for the grown ups and the children chose from the tapas which they devoured. I would recommend highly for a pub lunch.

Have visited twice in the last month and the food and service was brilliant. The seafood risotto is highly recommended and the chicken breast was superb.
