A lot of different choices; a lot of different flavors and tastes; must have cash, though. A truly out of the ordinary place to have a very good meal!

Hard Times Café is located on the edge of the University of Minnesota-twin cities campus. It's quirky atmosphere draws a lot of students and it's generous portions of great food, at low prices, draws many others. Numerous Vegan and Vegetarian options are popular as well.

A fun vegan grunge restaurant. The food is vegan comfort and the atmosphere is young and rebellious.

Like going back to the sixties only not as good. Holy moly, this is an interesting place if nothing else. People are strange, not interesting. Totally self absorbed. No service whatsoever yet they have a tip jar. Food was average at best and the price was not that good. Hmmm. The place gave me the creeps. This is a zombie... More

Who I am: 40 something-former teen punk rocker-longtime vegetarian Doctor mom food snob who never carries cash-so thanks to other reviewers for noting I would need CASH ONLY here. Aside from the need for CASH I felt this place was made for me to introduce my kids to the punk scene and enjoy the best vegetarian dishes I've had in... More

My husband and I decided to swing in to this place based on the reviews. I ordered the Binh Mi (I think that's what it's called), and my husband ordered a bean burrito. They were both pretty good vegan dishes. We were able to get both meals (with sodas), pretty good portions, for under $20. They have a pretty large... More

I came here for breakfast and I'm so glad that I did. What a unique restaurant, one that reminds me of the type of coffee shops I frequented in the 1990s. I was very appreciative of the punk vibe and laid back atmosphere. I got their vegan biscuits and gravy platter and it's out of this freakin' world. I would... More

You'd never eat animals again if all your food was this food!! Every dish we tried was great. The place was full but not crowded and the wait time for food once ordered reasonable.
