Was visiting friends in Ortonville, They took us to lunch to the Headwater Grill & Bar. We ate on the outside deck, the Steak Melt sandwich was Very Good, reasonably priced, staff was friendly. They have inside and outside seating, good menu options, full bar,...pool table and darts. Had a very nice lunch, would recommend to friends and Family. We’re visiting from FL, Next time we’re in town we will go back.More

I've eaten here a couple of times when I've been in Ortonville. I think this is a great neighborhood bar. The food is really good but the staff isn't very friendly. Even so, I will continue to go as I really like the food.

We were visiting Big Stone Lake and came into town for dinner. I felt sorry for the waitress, as she was the host, cook, waitress and bartender for the time being, so it took a while to get our drink order. I do not blame...her by any means as we understood she was a little frazzled. My daughter ordered the chicken wings that were way over cooked and very dry. I order a chicken wrap, and it was not the best. My husband did enjoy his frisco burger. I took a bite and it was very tasty. The bar itself was similar to a sports bar, pool table, darts and they have a patio, however it was too hot to sit at the day we visited. The staff was friendly as soon as the other workers showed up. This would be a good place to grab a beer and relax.More

We needed a nice warm place with a nice warm meal and thought we'd try this place for its location. Should've looked further... Food was pretty good, but the nasty lady who waited on us made it very clear that we were not welcome. No...greeting, just "are you ready to order?" We told her at the start how we needed the bill itemized for our employer and she just hated that. When it came time for the bill to be paid, she said she could only scribble our orders down on scratch paper, that's all she had. Paying her was even harder - she would NOT come back to our table! She could clearly see our payment ready, but we had to go up to the bar. Just don't even go here, they don't want your business.More

The Headwaters Grill and Bar is the quintessential small town/neighborhood eatery with all the standard menu items, plus! I've always settled in for one of their burgers or fish sandwiches for lunch and have never been disappointed. Special offerings include the regional appetizer favorite -...steak cubes. Haven't had them there, but since they are a classic and definitive offering in the area, they'd better be good. Decor is your typical low light arrangement of long countered bar, an array of high and low table spread out spaciously on two tiers that make up the back half of the establishment. A Harley mounted on a platform divides the room while classic fire fighting gear adorns one of the walls. Those nostalgic and vintage displays are offset by electronic dart board and other flashing light consoles along the wall. Atmosphere-traditional neighborhood "Americana" motif. Back to the food and service. Both consistently good. The cod fillet was hot, crisp and tasty; the fries were a crunchy-coated, golden glow yumminess. Expect this place to be packed during hunting and fishing season or when a troupe of weekend bikers cruise into town.More

We have eaten here several times. The breaded steak cubes are excellent. The burgers are all good. The wraps are good and they have some good salads. It is reasonably priced and we have always had good service.

Local establishment that has been around for years. Has burgers and fried foods. When they are busy expect your food to take a bit longer--very typical for restaurants. Typically no problem because you can enjoy a beverage and visit with family and friends. It is...OK to bring children around meal time. Great place to watch football or other sporting events with friends.More
