A friend and I were on a BBQ tour in the area and John Hardy's BBQ was recommended as being a good spot. We decided to try it out and I'll echo the service not being particularly great, but friendly. I was looking forward to some good ribs for dinner after a long day. Both my friend and I ordered... More

This place has the best BBQ around. The service is not great by any means so don't expect much there but their food is well worth it. It's always fast and very reasonably priced. The garlic bread is awesome, their meats are all wonderful, and their Jojos are everyone's favorite.

My son and I took some time alone while mom and brothers were off to camp to go exploring food places in Rochester and when I mentioned BBQ, he replied with "what's that"? John Hardy's was my 1st choice. Since we were coming from the north, I picked the one along 52. We both had the beef and pork with... More

Delicious cheap food. Does have it's off days, but overall very good. I recommend always ordering the Jojo's crispy as the normal Jojo's are too soggy for my liking.

I am from Texas so barbecue is a favorite of mine. Upon a recommendation from a local, my husband and I were excited to try John Hardy's. We ordered the brisket. It was mediocre at best, very dry and not tasty. The only saving grace was the choice of 7 different barbecue sauces. Sauces were good. Sorry to give such... More

I have been to John Hardy's for over 30 years, and it maintains its excellent barbecue menu. It is definitely not fancy, but the BBQ is first rate. The staff is friendly and the beer is cold. When your family is visiting Mayo Clinic, this is a nice choice for dinner.

Some of the best barbecue in town. Way better than the cookie cutter food you get at some of the BBQ chains around Rochester. Fresh smoked meat and awesome Jo-Jo's

A longtime Rochester resident took me here, and it was pretty good. Having grown up in Texas and lived in Austin for over 20 years, I'm pretty familiar with what decent barbecue is like. I had a combo plate with sliced beef and chicken (white meat), jojo potatoes and fried okra. The generous beef portion and 1/4 chicken each had... More

This place has, in name, been around a long time. I knew John when he was over on 3rd Ave and this place has changed many owners and many changes, some not so good. First of all, new owners?, have decided to change the BBQ sauce order. Spicy hot is now basically the same as Big boy hot, OK no... More
