In fact, I will even drive up to 3 hours to get here for breakfast. The apple crunch bread French toast is that good. We always browe the gift shop upstairs as well. This is a simple country restaurant offering simple country food. It is simply delicious. Don't believe the negative reviews. This place is definitely worth the stop.

Stopped on route to Montana from Chicago. We were also met by a waitress with a couple of menus who told us to go grab a table. She said it with a smile so I'm assuming this is a way to "make you feel like home". Walked past shelves full of the most beautiful muffins, bread, and pies, all made... More

It started with poor service to average food, then no service. Never came back to see if we would like anything else. Had to ask for bill. Food was average, not as good as it was a few years ago. Large portions does not always mean a good deal.

Horrid! Waitress greated us with 2 menus and a "find your own table". She never came to bring water or take our order as she was too busy talking with a friend and giving numerous hugs. After waiting for some time, we left. Not poor service but, NO service. No wonder the place was almost empty at 11:45 am. Waitress... More

We were driving into st charles and saw the quaint Amish buggies paralleling our drive. We quickly pulled off and saw the lovely country side and yes, indeed the Amish. However, we made the mistake of assuming the "Amish Ovens" would be an authentic home cooked wholesome place to eat. It was anything but. The Amish pot pie was greasy... More

Our worst experience in the last couple of years of eating on our many trips across the US. Very poor management. Stopped for breakfast today (saturday) approx. 9:00am. Only one teenage boy attempting to take care of the whole public area of the restaurant. Most of the many people left before getting their meal. They were the lucky ones! We... More

I have celiac and it is very hard to find a SAFE place to eat real food, especially on the road over the interstate highways dominated by the fast food chains. The chef was very accommodating in helping me find something safe to eat and the food they provided, chicken breast in raspberry sauce and plain steamed veggies, was cooked... More

We stopped here after driving all day. We thought a good home cooked meal would be great. That's not what we got. The mashed potatoes were like glue. The meat was greasy. We got a tablespoon of what they called dressing. It cost $11.95!!! When you get to this place, keep on driving.

We stopped for a "quick" lunch on our trip home to WI and regret we did. Our server was the only employee we saw and he admitted to us he was buser, server, dishwasher and cashier for the restaurant and bakery. We got his entire medical history and listened to his health complaints related to the amount of work on... More

Sat for 30 minutes before our order was taken, another 20 minutes to get water and coffee (which we got only because I got up and asked), and another 20 minutes to finally get our food. Thankful we ordered breakfast rather than lunch, which our neighbors did. Our food was the only redeeming quality. Our neighbors ordered lunch and theirs... More

I am so sorry that you had a bad experience at our restaurant. I had a new server on, which is no excuse, but I will address this immediately. Again, my sincerest apologies. More
