Despite not being particularly enthusiastic about Cambodian cuisine, this establishment captivated my interest in a special way. To begin with, the affordability of the menu was truly commendable. It allowed for an accessible dining experience without compromising on the quality of the food. This aspect...alone made the restaurant stand out from others. What made the dining experience even more intriguing was the fact that the restaurant was family-owned, with the head chef being none other than the owner herself. It was fascinating to discover that the owner's husband, a retired university professor, now assists his wife in the restaurant. Their presence added an extra layer of warmth and authenticity to the overall ambiance. The couple's refined demeanor and eloquence were truly remarkable. I couldn't help but feel that they had numerous heartwarming stories waiting to be shared with their patrons. It was evident that they brought a wealth of experience and passion to their culinary endeavor. My experience at this Cambodian restaurant was not only about the delicious food but also about the captivating atmosphere created by the couple's personal touch. It reminded me that dining is not just about the flavors on the plate but also the stories and experiences behind the scenes. I highly recommend visiting this unique restaurant, not only for the flavorful Cambodian dishes but also for the opportunity to engage with the warm and captivating individuals who bring the place to life.More

We had a delicious fresh lunch here today. The owner was sweet to recommend a delicious dish. She tried to make a recommendation for my husband but he stuck with chicken fried rice and it was delicious

Have been going since they opened and are never disappointed. The Phnom Penh noodle soup is addicting and the owners are great people.

My husband is Cambodian and after being on the road for a week he found this place to go for dinner. We were very pleasantly surprised by the food. Tasted like sitting down for a meal with his famiy! We went back for another meal...before we left town! Tried several things between the two stops and nothing disappointed!More

Wow! I had heard great things (via my law professor who detoured from lecture to tell us all about how amazing Cheng Heng is), and I was not disappointed. We ordered a meal for an army because we couldn’t decide and now the leftovers have...lasted us 3 additional meals (lol). #3A- Chive Cakes #4- Cambodian Eggroll #9- Plear Salad #31B- Fried Rice with Curry Sauce #47A- Beef Curry Soup #69- Chha Green Bean with Spicy Curry Sauce Everything was incredible but I especially loved 9 and 69. Also, a lot of people loved the chive cakes. They were great but I loved the eggrolls even more. Both the cakes and eggrolls were served with different homemade sauces that I really enjoyed. Ive never had Cambodian food before but if you are curious, I found it similar to Vietnamese, Burmese, or Thai. Lots of fresh fruits, a lot of vegetables, a balanced and diverse use of spices (not necessarily hot but flavorful), rice, broths, and really incredible sauces. Enjoy! I know I will again, soon!More

Large selection, servings and good food. The menu is large with pictures and simple descriptions. We had four people and all enjoyed their meals. We do not eat Cambodian very often and so we just picked something we thought we would like. All was very...good. I had the sweet and sour soup. Extra large was about $9. Lots of good food. Some felt it was a little on the sweet side but I liked it. Also I liked it the next day because I took some home.More

We went here for an evening dinner. We had #17 Chha Kroeng ($9.95), #23 Loth Chha ($8.50), #3A Chive Cakes ($5.50), and #4 Cambodian Egg Rolls ($3.45). The food was delivered to our table quickly. The Chive Cakes and Egg Rolls came out first, then...the two entrees. The fried foods had some oil but weren't greasy. The egg rolls were quite good. The Chive Cakes were good and very different. One entree was more noodles and the other had a lot of broccoli in it. Both entrees were good. There was a little bit of confusion over seating but we were waived to a table. And also, some confusion when it came time to pay. But otherwise it was fine. The bathroom was a little bit dirty but the people there were busy bussing tables and cleaning the floor so I'm sure they just hadn't gotten to it yet.More

Ate there for lunch, very average food, less-than average service, women wiping off tables while chattering together noisily, banging dirty dishes into a big cart. A server dropped off our dishes, although she did have a smile, but never once checked back to see if...we wanted anything more, including water. Paying up front we walked past a couple tables layered high with stacks of papers and office-work, past dusty and littered shelving. Very unappetizing. Won't go there again. No thank you.More

We are a family of four visiting Minneapolis-St. Paul for the first time. We were told the twin cities had great Cambodian and Laotian food so we ventured out to give it a try. We tried going to Kolap restaurant because we had read the...New York Times write-up on it but found they were closed. Luckily, Cheng Heng Restaurant is opened relatively late (9:30 PM) and they gave us a table even though we arrived right around closing time. We order the chha kuy teiv with pork (#28), the chicken fried rice with curry sauce (#31B) and the machu angkor soup with fish (#46). We also ordered some wonton noodle soup for our two young children (ages 6 and 4). Everything was absolutely delicious but the unanimous favorite was the machu angkor soup. The soup is served with a big bowl or rice so it was a very filling meal and we had lots of leftovers to enjoy the next day. The entire family meal cost around $40 with gratuity and taxes so very reasonable prices. The restaurant is located in a part of St. Paul where many other asian-styled restaurants are clustered. Highly recommended.More

Everyone knows about Thai food, well if you love Thai, you will also love Cambodian food from here. I can’t say enough about the food, and the people. The owners are so sweet, kind and hard working! The food is fresh and amazing. So many...fresh ingredients and flavors will astound you from the first to last bite. A few of my favorites are: #17 — I order this all the time! #52 — the tamarind sauce is amazing #69 — I literally crave this one #46 — this soup is delicious #9 — such a fresh and flavorful salad. Love the lemongrass and mint leaves.More

I checked this place out with a friend for dinner. Parking was availabe on the street and they may have a small lot. The restaurant is pretty big with two dinning rooms. We sat down and I ordered the spring rolls($4) and #67($10). Our food...came out quickly and was delicious. This place is unpretentious, affordable and worth a visit. Service was great, and my water glass was never empty.More

This is a small restaurant - don't expect anything fancy - but the food is very good. Prices are pretty reasonable, think $10 a dish, but in line with the others places around. Had the red chicken and rice - portion was very large. Would...come back again.More

Delicious food. The stir fried ginger with chicken is a cure all and delicious. I did not imagine it would have as much ginger as they claimed, yet it did. The Tom Yam (or Tom Yum) soup is amazing because of the all fresh vegetables...and the quail eggs. How do they put quail eggs in the soup without overcooking them? Good service. Quiet environment.More
