Reviewed yesterday NEW

Stayed here for two nights and had one evening meal here as well as the breakfasts. Mains were very good and service nice, however my wife's "twice cooked home chips" half of them were under cooked! A minor error and small mistakes do happen. So we decided to try a pudding as we had never had one for £7.50 -... More

We are here because of good reviews but we will not return. The service was extremely slow. One hour wait for burgers. The food when it arrived was ok only. The staff looked harassed and not terribly friendly either. There are other places around much better.

The food was decent, when it finally came. We ordered mains only, and the food took almost 55 mins to arrive. It wasn't just either so it is a real mystery why it would take so long. Not particularly friendly either in terms of service.

Extremely friendly staff couldn't have been more accommodating when we asked could we eat in the garden. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks looking at the fabulous view as the sun set then decided to move indoors. The menu is unusual and lots of choices for Gluten free eating. Enjoyed every bite of our 3 courses and the Chilean merlot to... More

Sad to say there was little to be positive about our evening at The Chequers Inn - except of course the company of our friends. Surely after a very warm & sunny spring day on a Saturday evening , almost in holiday season , the kitchen should have expected to be serving lots of covers and had the necessary staff... More

Last stop on our April road trip, booked very last minute. We were very pleasantly surprised. The greeting was warm and friendly. The room was modern clean and spacious. Downstairs there was a good selection of drinks. Plus, a very good menu of food. We opted for the bar meals, and they were superb. In fact they were the best... More

We had a really good dinner here. The food is terrific - interesting, with good flavours and uses local produce including rabbit and pigeon. It already has two AA rosettes and is approaching a Michelin star in terms of the overall experience. Highly recommended.

Visited here for lunch after taking a scenic stroll around the Peak District. Lovely area of the country and we were fortunate to have good weather. The food was very good, with good portion sizes too. Often these days you pay the same and get less. Pudding was equally good and served warm. The menu overall I was impressed by... More

Took my mum out for lunch after reading the excellent reviews on this site. After ordering our meal we waited nearly 35 mins to be served which was ok because the food was being freshly prepared. How wrong could we be? I had ordered the rabbit on the special board, my daughter had the halibut and my mum had the... More

I knew this place had to be good as it way out in the wilds, The Sunday lunch was the best we have had anywhere, wish it was more local, we'd be there every week John Cavanagh 10/10 March 2017
