THIS is how pubs should be. Friendly locals, reasonably priced beer and log fires. No food smells as in those snobby restaurants posing as pubs (where you are as welcome to drink a pint without ordering food as a fart in a spacesuit). If all pubs were like this, then 50 a week in the UK wouldn't be closing down!

Visited twice whilst on the nearby canal. On the first occasion a rock band were playing in the garden which was so loud it could be heard from the boat, we left without ordering. The second occasion was on the return journey. We had three dogs with us and we're told we were only welcome in the bar. The bar... More

We were on a narrowboat moored up near by and we visited this pub twice for drinks,It was a excellent pub for a drink. The bar staff were friendly as were the locals. There was plenty of seating and the place had a really good atmosphere. One thing in particular that impressed me was the excellent value the drinks were.I... More

Stopped here for lunch - proprietors were exceptionally nice and very welcoming. The food was just ok - standard pub grub, fish had a bland crust, chicken was rather dried out and chips were clearly made from frozen. It wasn't horrible, but was a disappointment after reading some of the reviews here. Had the owners not been so nice I... More

Stopped at Tibberton on a Sunday evening whilst on a canal holiday. The other pub in the village does not serve food on a Sunday evening so walked to Speed the Plough. Sadly we were told that the Chef was not there and they did not know when the chef would be back! - no answer to that. Such a... More

We enjoyed a lovely weekend in Aug 2014 at the campsite. Acres of space, only £5 per tent. No set pitches so we set up far away from everyone. A short walk to the canal and a convenient little shop on the main street. We could park near the tent and have a contained campfire and have a party into the... More
