Tierra Viva is really good but still casual enough that you can relax .
Menu is awesome , salads , fish top shelf and the sushi is the best in town
Breakfast hot spot and by far the best eggs benny in Sayulita
Top notch...staff and service . Great decor and open air concept . The upstairs is the best kept secret .More
After a fun day out fishing, we sent some Dorado filets over to be prepared. When we got there, the kitchen prepared some ceviche for us and then cooked the fish up 3 different ways. There were 2 couples...we each had our preferred of the...3 varieties...all were good. Went back a couple days later for drinks and some football, the restaurant is pretty nice and most Norte Americanos would feel right at home. One of the more refined places on Sayulita. Be sure to feed some fruit to the iguana upstairs :-)More
I do not know why this place gets such great reviews. Perhaps I was there on an off night. First off, Sushi means rice. Nothing more, nothing less. If the rice sucks, no matter what you put on it, it is not sushi. We got...both some nigiri and a roll for starters before dinner. The tuna nigiri was a sodden ball of rice that was becoming a puddle on the plate and we could not even pick it up with our fingers much less chop sticks. The tuna itself was a paper thin slice that was dry as if it had been cut hours before. Cannot give the spicy tuna roll any higher marks. Mushy over cooked rice with a bland tuna filling. Had to scoop it with your fingers to eat it was falling apart so bad. The avocado got high marks. The chicken mole sauce was thin watery translucent and flavorless. The vegetables were excellent. I believe the rice with the mole was the same as they used for the sushi. They do not pour a very attractive drink for the money, we had to order shots of rum on the side so our mojitos would have a decent mojito flavor. Like I said, it might of been an off night, yet I would not recommend it for it was so bad that a good night is probably just mediocre.More
I had the mole chicken dinner plate, it came with a 1/3 cup of vegetables that appeared to be frozen not fresh, and a 1/3 cup of rice which also has what appeared to be frozen mixed vegetables. It tasted ok, I’ve had better. I...woke up in the morning with severe salmonella food poisoning, it really took me down.
The staff is kind and accommodating but I recommend not eating their meat or fish.
Food poisoning is dangerous and will ruin your entire vacation.More
We ate here twice. The first time I had sushi. The second visit the Seafood Chile Relleno. Both meals were very good. My mouth is watering thinking about these dishes! It's a great place to people watch since it is in the center of town....Our service was also very good.More
Looking for place where I could eat guiltless and encountered Tierra viva. Breakfast served all day, green juice, eggs any way. Menu seemed
Heavenly after eating trompo tacos for a few days. They do not take
We enjoyed dinner here a few nights ago. We found the drinks and appetizers to be tasty, but my tuna entrée was just ok. It was supposed to be seared rare but I don't think it saw a pan. It was a sort of a...mono-color mess with the sauce. My wife LOVED her fish of the day, but did throw up later that night. It was the only food we hadn't shared all day so I think it might have been the culprit. Lots of stray dogs coming in and out. The property did not have much as far as personality or ambiance. I think there is more seating upstairs; so it might be worth having a look up there.More
On a 5 day trip, we ended up going here 3 times -- twice for breakfast and once for dinner. I found that the menu was diverse offering some traditional Mexican dishes with some fusion dishes. All dishes we tried were very good tasting and...the service was great. I highly recommend you give them a try!More
