For those that want something other that BBQ in Kansas City, I highly recommend Grünauer. I was in the mood for some sausage and Grünauer did not disappoint! I tried all six of their sausage types with a side of kraut. Fantastic! Great selection of...More

Our serving staff was very friendly and helpful, and offered to explain anything we needed help with. We've lived in Germany before, and the food was pleasantly authentic. The restaurant is a bit pricier, but portion sizes were good.

My husband and I were looking for lunch after Mass at the Cathedral in downtown KC. We happened upon this restaurant as we were exploring the city near Union Station. It is a very unique old building, I believe it was a freight house. Excellent...More

Outstanding service and food. Our server Samantha was great and knowledgeable about the dishes. We got the assorted cheese platter, mushroom goulash, sweet breads with potato bacon hash and cheese struedel. All was fantastic. Beautiful building too.

1. Terrible service. We waited ~15 minutes to be greeted by our server, another 15 min for drinks, and we had to flag down another waiter for beverage refills. 2. Inauthentic atmosphere. Anyone who says this reminds them of Germany or Austria obviously hasn't lived...More

Obviously this is not your typical American menu. This is Austrian cuisine that is so good!! You gotta check it out, you won't regret it. Oh, save room for dessert, oh golly, you'll leave happy for sure!!

The food was okay but the service was really lacking. It appeared they didn't have enough staff working.

We were guests at a wedding rehearsal dinner in the cozy loft area upstairs at Grunauer. We had a great salad and a very satisfying schnitzel...my family really enjoyed the meal. But what I swooned over was the desert -- a chocolate cake with chopped...More

I would say in evening hours, it is primarily an adult atmosphere. I can't say that in the number of times we've been there in the evening that we've seen any small children. However, at lunch time, especially on weekends, I... More
