Went for a friend's birthday and had a great meal at a very reasonable price (with drinks) and the two people running the place were lovely. I am already telling friends and family...about it and will be back again for more dining experiences. We really enjoyed our meal. There were four of us in our party. Two of us had the lamb shank, one had the duck and the other ordered the prime rib. All of us really enjoyed our choices! The flavours were wonderful, the portions were...good, and the service was excellent. The chef worked alone and had no trouble getting our orders out in a reasonable time. They have done a good job planning a menu that offers great flavour and efficient prep. We had eaten there previously when it was Uncle George's, and it was always freezing in the winter. Thankfully, the new owners have renovated and the restaurant was nice and cozy. We won't hesitate to go back again in any season. Here's a tip though - if you want the lamb, go early because they don't prepare a lot of portions every night to avoid waste. The lamb was really worth the visit!More

We ate at this restaurant a couple of times and enjoyed it when it was known as Uncle George's, so we were a little apprehensive when it changed hands because we didn't know what it would be like, but it was excellent. The prime rib...was done perfectly, and the shrimp and scallops, duck confit and braised lamb shank were also excellent, as was the lemon meringue pie. There is no competition in this area in the Kawarthas for food quality to this restaurant. There is a talented ,caring chef preparing the food. It shows in the food. We had the french onion soup (awesome) and the salad (awesome) lamb shank (the best...I have ever had) and prime rib - medium rare and crispy on the outside. Just wonderful. We both had the prime rib and ordered medium rare and blue and that is exactly what we got. So much better than that other chain steak restaurant that we all know about. If you live to eat, then this is the place to go. If you eat to live then go to the chip truck down the road. Have eaten there a number of times and finally am able to give a true impression. The food is...created for you by a chef who has a culinary background and is proud of what you are eating. It may take a little longer for your meal and it is worth it. If you can't wait, again go to the chip truck. All meals are suburb, the French onion soup will tantalize your taste buds and the prime rib is cooked to perfection (unless you want it roasted well done). We stopped in after a visit to the Petroglyph park and had a truly memorable meal. The prime roast was cooked to perfection as was the Shrimp and Scallops. We will definitely return to try more of the menu.

Tonight my neighbour and I had the pleasure of having dinner at this restaurant. The place , formerly known as Uncle George’s has been completely refinished inside. It is beautiful . The Wolf and Spice dinner menu includes Prime rib and lamb shanks along with a variety of fish and vegetarian dishes. We had the two former meals as mains but tried the french onion soup to start. Wow! It was delicious. Not super cheesy and...not at all salty, it was all in the broth! The prime rib and lamb were also outstanding. We do not live in the area but would certainly return if we are in the Kawarthas again. At the time of our visit it was not licensed so we could focus on the wonderful food and delightful service.More
