We visited with another couple who are familiar with Irish pubs since they have visited Ireland. They said the decor was authentic and the food even more so. We had fish and chips and they were delightfully delicious -- a good helping and served hot.

Having decided not to wait at several restaurants in the Soulard sector, we settled on dinner at McGurk's. Much to our surprise and delight, the food was terrific and distinctly Irish! I particulary recommend the bangers & mash! The nightlife picks up around 10:00.

In addition to their fantastic fish & chips, I had their onion rings and wings appetizers. The sauce for the onion rings is to die for. One of the best meaty wings I've had. To top it off, the atmosphere is inviting. Definitely an Irish...More

Late lunch on a Friday. At the bar. Ambiance rocks. Saw Teelings Irish Whisky on menu. Two kinds. Finally get to try it. Nope, neither in stock. Strike one. Order black and tan and get a black. No process used to assure separation. Strike two....More

I've only been there for lunch and there was no music. I'm sorry I can't help answer your question. Food is amazing, though. Now I'm hungry for their Rueben--beat I've ever eaten.

Established in 1978 as a one room pub house, John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub and Garden has risen to the top of the class among the Irish Pubs in St. Louis. In fact, Esquire Magazine, in its June, 2011 Edition, saluting the best bars in America, chose John D. McGurk’s as its only bar honored in the city of St. Louis.

McGurk’s is known throughout the Midwest for its great Irish music, food, drink, and its 10,000 square foot outdoor garden, complete with breathtaking landscaping, a fountain, a waterfall, and two terrific outdoor bars. Inside and out, McGurk’s is nearly 20,000 square feet of pure Irish fun.

Irish musicians entertain the patrons nightly, traveling to St. Louis from Galway to Dublin, Cork to Derry.

The inside of McGurks is a series of strung together dining rooms and bars. Its brick and wood décor with wonderful Irish artifacts makes one think they are enjoying a pub in Dublin.

McGurk’s has become a great place to celebrate special occasions like rehearsal dinners and private banquets.

McGurk’s has all the available Irish beer and spirits and serves lunch and dinner seven days a week. In addition to typical pub grub, McGurk’s offers wonderful steaks, assorted fish entrees, pasta specialties, and a delightful rack of lamb.

Great food, drink, and entertainment make McGurk’s a memorable stop. We look forward to raising a pint with you upon your next visit. Sláinte!
