My wife and I both had the beef stroganoff which was quite good. The dish was well prepared and plentiful. Atmosphere was upscale and service excellent. Pricing was reasonable. The location was excellent as we were staying in the Best Western and only had to...stroll thru the bar to get to the restaurant.More
The breadsticks, the beautiful salads, the amazing steak with sides and some wine were all perfect. And our waiter was very attentive and friendly.
My husband and I ordered steaks - his medium and mine medium-rare. However, when they arrived mine was medium and his medium-rare. Frustrating as they were two different cuts of beef. Baked potatoes were good and the salads- although on the small side - were...great. Really loved the addition of dried cranberries. We shared dessert which turned out to be the star of the meal. Two large scoops of Huckleberry ice cream with with whipped cream and edible flower petals. Friendly and attentive service from a German waitress.More
The atmosphere is beautiful! The bar tender and hostess wonderful!! The waiter was not very friendly and the food was a huge disappointment for this foodie. The $11 Cabernet (wine) was wonderful, but the crab cake was tasteless. The baked Brie was good but very...small. The spicy shrimp gnocchi was terrible! The smoked salmon pasta was dry and flavorless. The shrimp Alfredo was jus OK. The bread was pretty good. The basic “included” house salad was plain Jane from a bag and your only choice of dressing was ranch. The dessert we had to beg to hear about was incredible, but boy did the waiter try to talk us out of it. So strange. If I have another 2 1/2 hours to dine and spend money it will not be here. Mediocre Fare at an Exorbitant Price! Environment: Very nice, warm and comfortable, not too fancy or over done. (Bar stools are too tall which crams legs into the underside of bar) Service: Front desk was very friendly, beyond that, staff did not seem well informed...about the food or beverages and more interested in visiting amongst themselves than tending to the customer. Food: (Apparently there is a happy hour menu, but, not provided) I considered one of the "Best Steaks in Montana" ($58), Duck or Fish ($40) and finally chose "Spicy Shrimp Pomodoro" ($30). As indicated, was spicy to my liking. This included: SMALL green salad (no dressing choice offered), small loaf of bread and butter, and a large dinner bowl of the entrée. The Entrée: Served in a large dinner bowl, was nicely sauced bowl full of gnocchi (about 2 pounds), it included 5 average size shrimp (21/25 = 3-4 ounces), garnished with a little shaved parmesan cheese and crumbled dry bay leaf that was not soft fresh green garnish, so spat out. The portion of protein : starch was about 1:8 (way out of proportion). This dish should be called "Spicy Gnocchi Pomodoro with a Little Bit of Shrimp Garnish" (and use parsley or some fresh green for color, not dry bay leaf). Apparently there is not "chef" in the kitchen... and I was there to dine, not to work. Next time I will choose the Ramen Restaurant directly across, and will certainly be more satisfied.More
The food used to be good but this time it was over done. I ordered the shrimp gnocchi in red sauce and it was smothered in red sauce that was so spicy I could not taste the gnocchi. My husband ordered beef tenderloin medallions in...a lobster risotto and it was too creamy and soupy and way too much. We had mussels for the appetizer and it came layered in sausage. Again just over done. Sorry. I used to enjoy this restaurant but they need to step it up.More
Came in for dinner because on a night when lots of restaurants are closed, not much choice in town some nights. The tomato/red pepper soup was good, the onion soup just ok, not a lot of onions. The mussels were too big, wife likes them...smaller, not the restaurants fault, personal preference. Also had the whiskey steak bites, chicken lollipops and brussel's sprouts -- all good, but all just average, nothing special -- service ok, kinda slow. Restaurant not busy, but bar very busy, most people eating in the bar, there was a line out the door waiting to get in. All drinks (sparkling water, etc) had to go through bartender, slowed down that service considering how busy the bar was. Also, only 8 oz Perriers -- should have 12 oz, 500 ml, 750ml -- something bigger for serving groups at the table.More
Service was great; food not so great. We had a large group, we ordered a few appetizers for the table which were delicious. Drinks were amazing! Main course was average. The potatoes I do not recommend getting steak was cooked to order and average flavor....It was too pricey for the taste I think. If I ever I go back I’ll just get an appetizer and drink. Not impressed with my meal tho.More
Friendly and professional staff. Food is fantastic. Hoping next trip they are open for lunch. A bit $$$$ but you get what you pay for. Very busy at dinner and reservations can be difficult on short notice.
They may be the only good restaurant open in Helena on Mondays. The place bustles and is packed and you had better have a reservation. The service is great, swift and accommodating. They say they have had staffing issues, but they must have held onto...the very best wait staff. The onion rings are delicious, the beer is great, there is a great selection, the steak is very special, and you really cannot get a better meal. I have only one caveat. The portions are huge. We could not finish our meal or our appetizer. Bring your appetite.More
Wonderful old school steak place. Food is great. Drinks are strong and well made. Service a bit slow, but that is what is standard in these post-covid day.
AMAZING!! Wonderful service.. the waitress was extremely well versed in the menu, provided excellent suggestions, and was so attentive to us. The food... OMG, talk about good. We tried the bacon wrapped sirloin and it was AMAZING. I’m usually a ribeye girl but this steak...was amazing. They complimented it with some delicious broccoli, home made mashed potatoes, and these fantastic bourbon shrimp. We finished off with the berry tiramisu and it was to die for! I can’t say enough good about this restaurant. If you are in Helena looking for a wonderful experience with outstanding service, excellent food, and a great atmosphere... this is your place. It was priced typical caliber for this restaurant. Great apps, and the wine menu was extensive. I can’t wait to return!More
We planned on dining at a few different places during our stay, but the food and service were so good here, we just kept going back. Their filet mignon was perfect, as was their whiskey beef strips. And their asparagus, green beans, mashed potatoes-SO SO...SO good and well prepared. It was a memorable place, for sure!More

We ate here on a recent trip to Helena. The best part of the whole experience was being able to sit at the bar, as we are from California and due to Covid cannot. The food was absolutely delicious and the service exceptional. Would not...hesitate to go back and highly recommend.More
