We stopped by for dinner & drinks while vacationing in Missoula. Service was excellent. Our server offered to bring short pours of a few suggested wines since they did not have a Reisling on the menu (my preferred wine). The food menu was very interesting...and our meal was delicious - portions were generous.More

Great wine selection and you can sample on request. Mel was awesome and the jerk chicken in a skewer was a perfect nibble and nice pairing with a French white wine. Good vibe and comfortable ambiance either at the bar or comfortable lounge seating. Easy...parking and back door entry as well. Big time recommend.More

This place is a little pricey for Missoula. My son & his fiancé liked it. Interesting unique cocktails with esoteric liquors. It was too hot on the rooftop patio & no view

Utterly disappointing. The food was so-so (salmon and even chicken very overcooked). They proposed kid-friendly alternatives for our two kids (8 and 11), then charged full entree price for those simplified and reduced dishes. Even the best restaurants in NYC do not do this. $60...for two plates of chicken cutlet and rice? Please… The wine list is interesting - about the only positive thing I can say about this place.More

Have never been to Missoula but was mighty impressed with happenings downtown including a visit to Plonk! Fabulous dinner! They have a decent list of wines-by-the-glass and I enjoyed a Super Tuscan at a reasonable $12 price. My partner and I ordered two items, both...really well done (and both happened to be vegetarian). The Ahi Tuna Ceviche was fresh, quite tasty, melt-in-your-mouth quality. Our Mushrooms and Focaccia was simply awesome! So flavorful, and a very nice portion as well. I can see why the locals are so excited by business development downtown. If Plonk is any example, there's a lot to look forward to.More

We had one night in Missoula, and my wife chose Plonk. She is a genius. First, great wine selection. Selections in pretty much any price point, so the choice is yours. Second, service was outstanding. We sat at the bar and arrived during happy hour....At that point, there was one bartender handling the rush and she was outstanding. Personable, quick, good advice, pretty much everything one could want in a bartender. Later, a couple of others showed up and while the first one set a high bar, they all did themselves proud. Third, great food. We ate from the happy hour menu and it was all great. The cheese board was perhaps the best cheese board we have had. The pork buns were good enough that we ordered a second round. All I can say is one night in Missoula is well spent at Plonk.More

Besides some really, really good wines (both from the US as from other wine regions), this place has an excellent chef! The appetizers and entrees are amazing! Lots of love and attention in the food, which is truly great! Great place to stop for in...Missoula!More

We were visiting Montana on vacation and walked by Plonk and it seemed right up our alley as we love a cozy wine bar with delicious menu. Our dinner was great, my salmon was cooked perfectly, and our server had good knowledge about gluten-free options...and what could be substituted in certain cases. Attentive to making sure our water remained refilled as well (as a prior food server, these details matter, even though you may be drinking wine, or some other cocktail it’s a good server that still pays attention to your water). The wine and dessert was yummy. Only negative for us was how incredibly loud it was. We frequent many wine bars and you can have great ambiance with music, but this borderlined on feeling more like a club and not a wine bar with how loud the music was. Overall, a good experience though and we’d go back when in MT again.More

Creative cocktails, surprising appetizers and dessert, plus outdoor seating with a passing Friday evening parade of art walk enthusiasts -- that was the satisfying recipe for success during our visit to Plonk wine bar in downtown Missoula. We began with two signature cocktails that got...our evening off to a great start. My companion opted for the cucumber/cilantro gimlet ($12); I chose the Naked & Famous ($14), which mixed smoky mescal with Chartreuse, Aperol and lime juice into a lovely rose-colored concoction that had a nice, multi-faceted flavor. It was an auspicious beginning. We moved on to appetizers, relying on the helpful advice of our attentive server (Claudia) who wended her way with aplomb through the crowded sidewalk seating area bathed in late afternoon sun. My companion's mushroom focaccia ($14) was a sizable and satisfying portion for the price and ridiculously tasty. I hesitated to order the adobo shrimp cocktail because of what seemed a steep price ($20) but Claudia promised a worthy appetizer -- and she was absolutely correct. This proved to be unlike any of the scores of shrimp cocktails I've had over decades -- a truly original version. The adobo seasoning was fully flavored and nicely spiced, almost like a zestier version of gazpacho, and so sizable that I had no need to order another appetizer. (Why there seems to be criticisms on this site of Plonk's portions and pricing was a mystery to me.) We had just enough room left to share a sweet potato pot a crème ($10), another nifty, creative take on an old favorite. Plonk provided one of the finest food and drink experiences of our 3,500-mile road trip to all five Utah National Parks from our home outside Seattle. The only unfortunate aspect of this jazzy eatery and bar is its name. "Plonk" is a negative name for mediocre wine, similar to "swill." Perhaps the owners thought this was an inside joke of sorts, but it shortchanges the place's attributes and allure, at least in the estimate of this professional writer. In addition, the Plonk name also fails to suggest the creative cocktails that add so much to the appeal. So it should be time to consider a name change for this estimable establishment....More

Wow! What a wonderful find after very disappointing meals all week in Glacier. We had the charcuterie board and it was excellent. Extensive wine list and service was over the top fabulous. We would love to return on our next visit.

I was visiting some friends who live in the area and we stopped by Plonk upon arrival and then one last time before I flew home...they were fantastic... The contemporary rustic themed restaurant is attractive and makes for a very nice dining experience. There's a...full sized bar downstairs and we were fortunate enough to have nice weather to dine on the rooftop on both visits. Our server was fantastic with keeping the drinks fresh, waters filled and helpful with the menu. We didn't get her name but it was the very friendly Asian girl taking care of tables in the patio. I sampled multiple dishes and cocktails during both my visits and here's everything I enjoyed.. Korean BBQ fries with tamari glazed pork. This was a favorite dish for everyone to pick at along with their main dishes. Green Garlic Hummus - Fresh af hummus. Pork Steam Buns - The pork shoulder was tender and melted in your mouth. charcuterie board - Solid from top to bottom. A full roll of bread that paired well with the 3 meats and 3 cheeses that came with the board. Portions were generous enough for two people to share. salma hayek - jalpeno infused tequila margarita that was tasty. G.F.C. - ginger vodka, basil, fresh lemon lime. This was my favorite in house cocktail here. Refresing and creative, definitely give it a try. Coconut Lime Rickey - a little too sweet for me but if sweet cocktails are your things, this one is good to go. Plonk is a very stylish foodie restaurant that would have it's place in any major city along with other hip restaurants. I'm sure i'll be visiting here again on my next visit to Missoula. CheersMore
