My son and I stopped in just before closing which we didn't realize they were closing. The two girls were nice & friendly but the smoothies we each got seemed to be a little more soupy then they should of been and tasted ok. Seemed in a bit of a rush to make them. My first time there but my... More

Been here several time for bagel sandwiches. The bagels tasted fresh but somehow lacked deeper flavor or balanced chewiness. Also the coffee was just OK. I usually have decaf but there was nothing exceptional about it --- just like DD's. I prefer the rich dark roasted flavor from other nearby cafes. And finally, the staff smiles but just never felt... The place is just a textbook example of poor customer service. The people behind the counter act as if you are interrupting their private time by wanting to order. The staff seems like a clique that wishes you would just go away. The system for ordering and paying is chaotic - the person on the register is constantly walking away... More

You would think an on-campus sandwich shop would be more budget oriented, but it doesn't matter, because The Works makes some killer sandwiches and soups, and the servings are quite large as well, which supports the pricing structure.

Service is terrible. Too bad as only bagel spot around. No one cares. Owners appear lazy. Would go once a week minimum if decent. Will never go back have multiple chances.

Great food and atmosphere; prices are VERY reasonable ; picnic tables with red umbrellas outside; had the italian panini which was hot and crunchy...scrambled egg, cheddar, spinach sandwich on whole grain bread puts Panera to shame! You order at the counter and choose your own seat.

Dear stitch63, Thank you SO MUCH for your review! We're really happy that the food, atmosphere, and prices fit the bill for you. In case you were wondering, our cheddar cheese comes from a Vermont dairy co-op, Cabot Creamery, and is always hormone-free. And our breads are made with un-bromated and unbleached flour and sweetened with pure malt syrup, a... More

For years I have had the pleasure of visiting THE WORKS BAKERY CAFE. The name has been changed but the bagel's are nothing like any other bagel places I have been to before. They are baked on property and are always fresh and well seasoned! Try out their different cream cheeses and you wont be disappointed either. Coffee is fresh... More

Dear dog1s00tydog, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're tickled and grateful that our bagels are to your liking. Did you know how they're made? Yes, we make them on site, always from scratch in small batches. We use only un-bromated, unbleached flour, and our bagels are still made the old fashioned way: proofed, boiled and baked. No... This place has an amazing selection of eats, my favorite is a sandwich that is not on the menu, I get a sourdough panini with their pesto, mozzarella, and chicken! This is a great place to hang out with friends or get some homework done if you go to UNH. Love visiting this place every time I return to Durham

A pretty amazing place to hang out. The coffee was delicious!! I mean, it tasted smooth and I wanted to savory each swallow. We were in the area looking at real estate and needed a place to go between meetings. We liked it so much, we came back for lunch. The three bean chili was robust, spicy, and filling. I... More
