This is a quintessential New England Inn. Great atmosphere, great staff, great cocktails. Perfect place to enjoy dinner by the fireside after a day of skiing.

First off...I'm totally not into giving bad reviews, but, when the host says, 'the owner thinks children are 'gross', after your family has spent over $350.00 for dinner, I've gotta say something. I have held off for a month and still the event haunts me. High priced food with not much to rave about. One basket of bread for 7... More

We eat here frequently with friends. The ambiance is great- summer outside on the terrace and in the winter cozy inside. Full bar. Lovely furnishings. The rooms are country perfect- not fluffy old fashioned. I believe there are no TV's ...so check if that is important to you. Well, you are in the country! Very convenient for skiing Cannon and... We stayed at the Inn and had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. The food was perfectly prepared with fresh local ingredients. We had the filet, the chicken, the cod, and the salmon. All were delicious. But our favorite part of dinner was the carrots! Fresh from the garden. We also had the cheesecake for dessert which was also wonderful.... More

We didn't have a reservation and showed up about 7:30 pm. We were warmly greeted and seated almost immediately. Our waitress provided superb service & got us a few hiking books to look at as we were trying to figure out where to hike the next day. My salmon & veggies were delicious; my husband said his cod was the... More

We could not fault our meal at the Horse and Hound. There were four of us and we each ordered something different and all dishes were amazing. Would definitely come back.

We were surprised to find such a lovely restaurant in this area and would love to return and also stay at this inn. The dining room is warm and inviting and has a cozy bar adjacent if you find yourself waiting. Enjoy your meal looking out onto lovely grounds or perhaps take in a glass of wine on the patio... Wow! We ate dinner at this beautiful inn. The decor is exactly the picture perfect classic New England place. Intimate dining experience. Food was amazing and the atmosphere couldn't be beat. Wish we would have made reservations to stay at the inn. If the rooms are as nice as the restaurant, this is definitely the place to be.

Top notch meal with veggies from their own garden. Great service with lovely ambience. You will need a reservation, though. Highly recommended!

My rating is for the service. Not the food. Our meal was excellent - Classic New England with fresh ingredients. Nothing fancy; just well executed. The service was lacking. The whole evening we felt like our server was ignoring us. When I pay that much money on a meal, I want a little more attention - I want my drink... More
