Love the breakfast and lunch here. Sometimes a 10-15 minute wait but we'll worth it. Lovely staff always trying to please.

Delicious pies, baked goods, and satisfying hearty comfort food were reason enough to wait on the long line for lunch at Lou's...then we found out about the all-male "wall of fame" that Gloria Steinem made the owner take down--which was restored shortly afterwards and remains over the lunch counter to this day...if you are a manly man, don't miss it!
When it comes to getting really good home-cooked meals, and a good variety of bakery items, then go here. Always been a favorite of the locals, and word spreads quickly. Plan on waiting in line for a bit before a table is ready. The wait staff are the ones you wish you could find at every restaurant. Friendly, very experienced,... More
Lou's bakery is an institution in Hanover. The breakfast selections are bountiful, as is the food itself. Three of us had breakfast on 2/23. It was winter break in the local schools so we waited for 15 minutes for a table, on a Thursday, but it was worth it. We ordered eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, and everything was delicious. Our waitress... Not only is this a great place to eat but also their doughnuts are to die for. Go early to find a seat or just to buy doughnuts they both go quickly.
Once we forgot about the nostalgic setting, it became clear we'd also picked a winner for lunch on our day in Hanover. Some of the dishes are just exceptional, like the ancho chili. It's also important to leave room for the first rate pie.
Lou's is a go-to place for over the top bakery items and delicious cakes. It's a must visit when in Hanover. I've also had breakfast and they have large portion sizes for the cost.
We went twice during a short stay, it was that good. The corned beef hash is not to be missed if that appeals to you at all. Baked goods are tasty. A fun diner atmosphere, and the place is obviously both a college haunt and popular with locals.
My sister is the pickiest eater I know and always going on and off diets. Lou's is a consistent win for her. I love the hash, she loves the omelettes. The kids get wiki sticks to play with and amazing waffles. The line is crazy long on the weekend. Go early or late!
I love this place! Lou's is a timeless love letter to the traditional diner where great food is served at reasonable prices by professional wait staff who call you 'hon and 'darlin'. If anything, the bakery has improved from my college days. Breakfasts are still excellent with delicious local products featured. The long-term staff is like a big family, which... More
