The Puritan Back Room is a longstanding favorite. Their extensive menu offerings have something for everyone from the ice cream window to the dining room or function hall. Open for both lunch and dinner, the dining room menu includes a wide variety of steaks and...More

This is where the locals go, and have gone, since it was a small ice cream stand in the 1950s. For many decades now it has been a full-fledged restaurant, and a gathering place for families, with the great ice cream stand still on the...More

Don't get discouraged if you see that the parking lot is full when you arrive. If you have to wait, it is never very long because it is a big restaurant and holds many people. My husband had clam chowder, baked haddock and whipped potatoes....More

A friend picked this place, I assumed she was familiar with the vicinity and options. I got a Caesar salad and side of fried clams. The lettuce was fresh, but was only made of lettuce, croutons, dressing and parm, no anchovies, egg or bacon. Clams,...More

This is where the locals seem to be and it is crowded, but it's a big place so the wait isn't too long. It's first-come, first-served for the bar. I got what the place is known for: chicken tenders. They are crisp, not greasy and...More

There's a reason for the huge parking lot! This place is a local tradition that's supported by locals with open arms. The food is consistently excellent in a down-home sort of way. The bar is extremely generous with its cocktails -- a Rusty Nail was...More

My family and I have been going to the Backroom since we move up here over 30 years ago and like most, we knew it was always one of the best places to eat in Manchester. Now I will be honest, it's not really a...More

Love coming here with friends and family, waiters are always on their toes and food is always great. Broiled chicken with “special sauce” is a great gluten free option.

It's a short 10 minutes away. From the SNHU Ctr, drive north on Elm st thru the downtown for a mile or so. Take Right at lights at Webster Street (Rte 3/28). Puritan is on your right in about another mile or so.
