Dining here is an experience. Everything is made to order by Chef/Owner and if in season, grown by him as well.

We have dined at Peyton Place since before it moved from Bradford to Orford. It is always excellent. For a wonderful and leisurely dinner the little town of Orford offers up amazing possibilities.

At very short notice we decided to eat at Peyton Place while staying in the area. The ambience is lovely, such an old historic building. We were well looked after by our waitress. We had an appetiser & entree each and were delighted with all of them. I loved my salmon appetiser with a delicate cucumber salad. A lovely evening... More

The best things about Peyton Place are the things others criticize in the negative reviews. Heidi Peyton and her husband chef, Jim, are outstanding -- real pros. If you want quick, swift, commercial, big portions, and obsequious service, then don't go. If you want a nice, quiet, slow, well-timed, fresh, completely homemade at every level, elegant, original and exquisite meal,... More

Fabulous fresh farm to table cuisine. Exquisitely prepared graciously served and a menu to suit all tastes. If weather permits ask to sit outside. We have been here twice in 5 days and can't wait to come back.

The food quality was 5 star. The 1700s house provided good atmosphere. It had a welcoming vibe. The thing that ruined it for me was that for dinner, after a bowl of cherry soup, and a chicken entree, I went home and had something to eat. The $23 chicken special was cooked and flavored perfectly but was gone in 6... More

What a gem of a restaurant. We ate in the original tavern room of a late 1700s house. The atmosphere was warm and casual with music that was gentle and conducive to conversation. We were walk-ins and felt very warmly welcomed. The service was excellent without hovering. Candle lit without leaving you groping for your silverware. I had the lamb... More

This restaurant is a hidden gem in the upper valley and one of my very favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is homey, warm and welcoming. The menu changes often and their commitment to farm to table and local source is a bonus. I've tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Jim's cooking and creativity is fabulous. Some... More

Enjoyed great service, and tasty food in one of the warm candlelight dining rooms. Menu has a wide variety of choices. We had a veggie quesadilla, potato crusted haddock, and a bison burger. All prepared to our liking. We were served fresh baked warm rolls. Love the atmosphere and the food.

Thank Marylou H
