I've eaten here many times over the years and it's hit or miss. Good place for cocktails downtown and I've had reliably good brunches. Lovely patio in the summer.

I haven't been to the Waterhouse for a few months, and there seemed to be a new staff. I sat at the bar, and ordered a glass of Tempranillo, and the fish and chips. The wine was fine. The fish and chips was a mixed bag. The fish was crisp and tasty, as was the coleslaw, the fries were soggy,... More

Thank you so much for letting us know. We do have a new staff, and many are just learning, however that doesn't excuse your feeling you were not given good service. Please come back and join us for another fish and chips and glass of wine, on the house. Please ask for Keith or Eileen, I guarantee we will meet... More

Ambience was wonderful as my wife and I sat outside next to the river on a beautiful evening. Also, the service was fine. Nevertheless, ambience and service don't fill the stomach. My wife ordered chicken tacos. The tacos were very light on the filling and the salsa was boring. I ordered wild mushroom flat bread pizza and @ $17 I... More

We decided to stop in Peterborough at the end of long foliage drive in New England. We had stopped before and had a great meal at Marzano's Italian restaurant. Much to our dismay we found that Marzano's had closed for good. We decided to try another restaurant that was right downtown called The Waterhouse. We sat at the bar to... More

I've dined here twice and had an excellent meal each time. The crabcakes are delicious, and the chicken (usually a thing to avoid in restaurants) was divine. My husband had the fish and chips, and it was among the best he had eaten. Reasonable prices for an excellent meal!

recent visit to the Waterhouse Restaurant was another wonderful meal with the greatest service, friendly and prompt, courteous staff without being intrusive, food was superb, great tasting , well seasoned, plentiful and presented to be pleasing to the eye, another trip is in the offering as this turns out to be our favorite Sunday evening restaurant in the Peterborough area

This was our first visit here and we had made a reservation for a table on the patio by the water. We had an exceptional table and excellent service. The water was barely moving due to the summer drought . I would love to sit at this same table in the spring. Our waitress was very accommodating and answered all... More

We came here to celebrate a birthday and the outdoor setting by the river was delightful. The food was good but uneven, as though the chef tried but couldn't quite execute some of the menu. I had the Duck, a generous portion though the honey orange sauce was far too sweet and cloying. It came with sweet potato spätzle, a... More

Met a friend for lunch on our way to New Hampshire and chose a table out on the patio under an umbrella and next to the river. We each ordered a light lunch and wine/beer from an appealing and well-balanced menu. The hostess thoughtfully sat us with some space between tables instead of bunching us together close to the kitchen.... More

Really nice quiet patio setting next to a river. Great place to view foliage while you eat and listen to the water run. The menu is not too extensive, but the burger I got was big and juicy, cooked perfectly on a nice fresh roll. The fries were good, although I don't usually do fries, but my wife had a... More
