What a great experience family and friends had celebrating my girlfriend's big birthday fireside on the deck last week. We very much enjoyed ourselves and truly appreciated the fantastic service we received. As the sun was setting the night was just getting going for us and we were made to feel at home by the accommodating staff. Our appetizers and... More

Let's start with the beautiful: outstanding water view, either from the outdoor deck or the window seats inside. The Good: actually very good service, nice drink selection. The Bad: the food. Ordered a buttermilk fried chicken club sandwich. Problem #1, crispy boneless breast served on a toasted hard roll. Difficult to bite through - roll should have been softer, e.g.,... More

Great spot on the river on a sunny day to sit out on the deck and enjoy the views of the harbour, bridges and badger island. Service was nice and friendly. Bar and drinks looked very good but the menus are many and varied depending on the day the time of year so don't ask for what you saw on... More

We really enjoyed this restaurant! Went for lunch one day and liked it so much went back again the next day. Great outdoor setting on the deck overlooking the water, and the servers were all super super nice. Food was delicious. The mussels with chorizo sausage in broth was really great. So tasty!! And the fried fish sandwich was one... More

Nice location but this trap serves awful food. Specifics are frozen corn in the mussels, scallop entree that is trying to be Japanese and Italian fusion, awful beet salad with a dressing that looks like pepto bismal with wilted greens. Oh and canned whipped cream on the desserts. Cmon man. Would have said something to the manager but she was... More

Full bar but with selection of single malt scotches. More of a singles bar or date night. Usually has a live band and it's always good. Lots of dancing. Next to the river. Unsure about food.

We have been big fans of the riverfront Martingale Wharf restaurant since it opened. In the summer, we love to linger on the deck, literally at the water’s edge, for the great views of the sailboats, power boats, excursion boats, and occasionally we will get to watch the tugboats, moored a few yards away when they’re not working, escorting a... We were here for a private party. Fabulous location on the water, friendly and very helpful staff. The buffet style food was rather disappointing and uninspiring, definitely needs some work.

At that end of the day, Portsmouth has few casual bars/lounges. This offers a nice break from crowds and small spaces. Maryingales has tons of space and a hive circular bar. We've eaten there frequently. The food is usually pretty good and their menu changes frequently. In the warmer months you can sit outside but no reservations. So go early... More

Great place to stand on a deck and look at the harbor. Very crowded bar and not great about making us feel welcome. The guy at the door told us we could not sit in the bar area as they were full. Nope. Lots of empty tables. Didnt try to help seat us. If you want a drink to see... More
