Went here for dinner with another couple. I had the house specialty Seafood Mulligatawny stew. Nothing impressive and not a lot of food. I was not impressed. What little was presented tasted ok, but I was thankful it came with steamed rice to fill me...More

The decor is a little understated. Do not allow it to deceive you. Service was outstanding. The portions were sized perfectly. No huge overstuffed dishes with way too much to eat. We had three appetizers and a small dish of fresh pasta with scallops. The...More

We have visited Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe since 2009. We were pleasantly surprised with the food then, and it's still as great now. Must try this place for great seafood when in the area.

I live in a town that is know for fresh seafood. Jumpin Jay's does not always serve fresh so buyer beware. Diver scallops, the most expensive item on the menu, were mushy and smelly, just gross. All that for 34.00

Food was good. However, we were not very much impressed by the seating arrangements and service. The menu does not tell you the portion size (pictures) or calories. Also, found some of the sea food are high priced, given it is located near the sea...More

Description
Located just two blocks down from Market Square in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Jumpin' Jay's is a local foodie enclave serving refined seafood in a sleek restaurant setting. The quality of fare is unsurpassed, with fish arriving daily from local fisherman as well as some exotic catches from locations such as New Zealand and Ecuador. Four to six varieties of fish appear on the ever-changing "Catch of the Day" menu, complimented by your choice of gourmet sauce. Our raw bar offers an extensive variety of shellfish found in New Hampshire. Our specialties menu offers more traditional flavor, including Maine Crab Cakes, Haddock Piccata and our popular Linguine in White Clam Sauce. The atmosphere is casually hip, with no pretense. Reservations encouraged. Open seven nights a week.
