New York's Plaza Hotel is gone - if you want to see its dining room, you have to watch the start of Hitchcock's North by Northwest. However, its spirit lives on at Bernards Inn. Is it perfect? No, but truthfully, the Plaza wasn't perfect either. But Bernards Inn strives for, and often achieves, something even better: what the Grand Old... More

One of the most expensive restaurants in the area. Had dinner recently. Food and service were good-but I won't go any farther in my admiration. The seared foie gras was great but the lobster entree was so so. The vegetables on the plate were cold underneath and warm on the top. They really get you with their wine offerings. I... More

We had a wonderful dinner recently at the elegant restaurant of The Bernards Inn. There are in fact four different dining venues at the Inn. In one, The Library Piano Bar, dinner is accompanied by live entertainment. The adjacent Great Room is the most elegant of the venues, while the quieter Conservatory is probably best for those who want to... More

This is a beautiful restaurant in a great little town. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. Thanks to our server, Sherry, we had a great time. Any dish you wish to order is sure to be terrific for lunch or dinner. They also have free parking.

The waitress was an uninterested teenager with a pony tail behind each ear. We ordered the grilled octopus, which was good. The mushroom pasta appetizer with duck confit was excellent except for cubes of cucumber(?) that were marinated in such strong vinegar that I got tears in my eyes. I use this type of supermarket vinegar to kill weeds. The... More

We stopped by Bernardsville for a day on the way up to PA. The Inn is located in a small quiet town. There are a few small shops in the area and not much going on....it's more of a relaxation type of place. We went to the Scherman Hoffman wild life sanctuary which was a ok place to hike and... My wife and I have been meaning to try the Bernards Inn ever since we moved into the area six years ago. We finally had dinner there for our anniversary this week, and had a really excellent experience. The servers were all friendly and knowledgeable, the food was excellent, and the overall ambiance was pleasant. There are a lot of... More
