We were greeted by a friendly hostess tonight. Our servers were excellent - the waitresses seem to share responsibilities and were knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. Our dinners were delicious. I had the sautéed halibut with a pineapple Crasin risotto ($32)which I would order again in a heartbeat! Hubby had braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and asparagus- he all but licked the plate! We shared the carrot cake which was moist and delicious. There was a musician playing softly in the corner (Friday night) which added to the experience.

Service is prompt and friendly. We started with the French Onion Soup which was very good with a lot of cheese. For entrees, we had the Short Ribs and the Chicken Saltimbucca. My wife was very happy with the Short Ribs. The only complaint was that the Saltimbucca was over seasoned. Portions were large. The Old Fashioned with Chocolate Bitters was good as well as the Tortuffo and coffee for dessert.
I would return.

It’s my hobby to find and dine at historic inns. My favorites are in the Bucks County area. This one did not make the grade. Our server approached us promptly and informed us that both he and a young woman would be waiting on us. We ordered drinks and I asked if we could have raw oysters with them. Our drinks were swiftly served and we enjoyed them. Thirty five minutes later we were still waiting for the oysters. Our woman server approached and asked to take our dinner order. I informed her that we were still waiting on our oysters. She looked blankly at us and indicated she would check on this. Five minutes later we were served the oysters by another young woman who asked to take our dinner order. The oysters were tepid rather than chilled. The flavor was underwhelming and the accompanying “ black pepper mignonette ” was inedible. There was no apology for the wait for this dish. My main course, the Lobster Ravioli, had not a hint of a lobster flavor. Thankfully, the lemon sauce and sautéed spinach on top of the pasta was flavorful. My husband enjoyed his wedge salad. He was unimpressed with his beef rib tacos. Not one server checked to see if we were enjoying our meal. Service is a vital detail at a restaurant. We received inattentive and aloof service here. One and done.

Just to clarify for anyone that may read this, you asked for your party of two to be seated at our table for four in front of the fireplace, and we accommodated this request even though it caused a party of four with a reservation to have to wait ten additional minutes for another table of four to open up. We bought them a drink at the bar to make up for the inconvenience, and to attempt to make both parties happy and avoid a review such as the one we received anyway. But things took a turn for the worse when we were not able to accommodate the request of turning the fireplace on. It was 80 degrees on the day you joined us, and turning on the fireplace would have caused the temperature in the room to approach 85 degrees, which would have made the other 60 guests in the room extremely uncomfortable. We tried to explain this to you but you were obviously disappointed and this unfortunately seemed to set the tone for the rest of the evening.
According to the time stamps on the kitchen receipts, it took about 12 minutes to receive your oysters. This is indeed too long, and I’ve spoken to our Chef about the wait time, but it was a far cry from 35 minutes. They are stored and then served on ice, so I’m not sure how they would be tepid and I suppose the black pepper mignonette is just a matter of taste as most people find it a wonderful accompaniment. No one in ten years has ever described it as “inedible”.
Your main servers were Chas and Amy, but you also interacted with our bartender Cole and our food runner Vicki. You had multiple interactions with each of these people, so I’m not sure how to respond to the claims that no one checked on you to see if you were enjoying your meal and that you received inattentive and aloof service. I just can’t buy that at all unfortunately. Four different people checked on you throughout your experience, multiple times.
Our front of house staff pools their tips, so they all work together and virtually all take care of each table. I will say that every so often guests view this format as unorganized, as they’re accustomed to other restaurants where they deal with only one person. Perhaps on the surface it appears unorganized, but it is certainly not inattentive, and the servers constantly communicate with each other to insure that each guest receives excellent service. Here, we work as a team, and by and large we are given the highest praise for our customer service. We have over 2000 reviews that describe an experience that’s just about the polar opposite of what you’ve described.
If you would like to change your mind about being “one and done” we would love for you to visit us in the colder months, when the fireplace is on and the dining room is warm and cozy. We will once again give you the table for four in front of the fireplace, to make up for the poor experience seemingly caused by an inconvenient 80 degree day. Finally, I noticed that your last five Tripadvisor reviews, dating back six months, were negative. I suppose those places wouldn’t turn on their heat in the summer either.

Another delicious meal and only the second time that we've eaten inside at the inn. Around the high holidays, there were many families enjoying a night out. White table clothes and a fine dining affair. Though we can't ever pass over the meatballs, This time we focused on trying new things including the specials, including adelectable lamb chop dish.
It was a perfect Fall meal on a chilly, rainy evening. Can't wait for our next meal out.

My wife and I have dined here several times over the past year. The last time we went, about two weeks ago, my wife ordered the sea scallops dish. When the dish arrived, there was one scallop on three corners of the dish. On the 4th corner was a large piece of bread, with no scallop underneath. (I guess they thought we wouldn't notice...lol). So, a $40 dish with just 3 scallops!! I would recommend that you ask how many scallops are included with the dish should you decide to order it. Not sure if this was an off night, or they now only include three. At any rate, the dish was very good, just not very filling. We went on a Saturday night, and thought the waiter would tell us about any specials. When he didn't mention anything, we asked him if there were any specials. He just said no. I am sure at some point in time we will go back, but we will be sure to ask more questions about the entrees.

Came out to try for the first time w a few friends. Started with the espresso martini which was made w real espresso. Was done very well. We all enjoyed our entrees, can tell the kitchen uses quilty choices. We all enjoyed our meals. The food was outstanding to say the least!!! There was only 2 things I think could have made our experience a Lil better. Although the staff was super nice and accommodating I wasn't sure why the guy was serving us w a hat on and sweatshirt? It seemed like he wasn't really a server or they just wear what they want? That threw me off a bit. But the one thing that did not wow me was dessert. I saw on site everyone raved about this "homemade banana cream pie" ehhhh the pie filling did not resemble banana taste at all and was very waxy . Left a film in my moth and the crust was similar to dollar store crust. In other words this dessert which is the only homemade dessert did not taste homemade nor did it really resemble banana creme pie. All the other desserts were very typical of a diner. And not homemade. If you guys need a good baker I know a few!!! Lmk!!!! Otherwise for the food that was a win! Would like to come back again in the summer and see what's going in then . Thank you for the experience.

My friend selected this restaurant because it was a reasonably short ride for us and it offered safe, socially distanced outdoor dining in this time of Covid. Even though we never ventured indoors, I was delighted by the large, white mid nineteenth century structure that greeted us.
Sitting in the covered outdoor area on a lovely summer evening could not have been more pleasant.I have investigated the outdoor seating set up of a number of area restaurants. Often the tables are simply not that far apart. At the Blooming Grove Inn, I felt completely safe.
We both opted for the delicious Mahi Mahi that came with spinach and risotto. We shared cheese cake and limoncello cake for desert. Both were wonderful but that limncello cake was especially scrumptious.
The wait staff was friendly and attentive.
I can't wait to return once the pandemic has ended to experience whatever ambiance this imposing, historic structure has to offer - as well as other selections on the menu.

Date night. Beautiful grounds and history. Unfortunately, the house has been renovated but the bones are still there.
Food presentation was nice.
One person had red snapper with risotto and spinach. Spinach was salty. Flavor profile of center of plate dish was good but not exceptional.
Second party grilled flat iron steak with potatoes. He enjoyed it. No complaints.
Staff was friendly.
Prices were fair. Best thing about the location was convenient and no wait for a table.

They set up the outdoor area very nicely to accommodate guests and distance them. Had a big tent with plenty of seats and other tables with umbrellas. We chose a great night to go.
Food was very good. Wait staff was a bit slow.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Good amount of parking. I would definitely go again. A bit on the pricey side but not unreasonable.

I love this restaurant and think it's highly underrated. It is an inn that also serves really wonderful food. We decided to head there in July, on our anniversary, on a hot and steamy evening. I think the heat kept most people in doors and we had our own private patio.
The food is excellent. The appetizers stand out and are a real highlight, but the mains can also be superb. The atmosphere is delightful as you sit on a spacious green lawn. There is some driveby traffic, but nothing that is distracting or interrupting. The only thing that I didn't love is their extra famous banana cream pie. Was it good? Absolutely. But the actual bananas were lacking and to me that makes the dessert.

The outdoor dining was so nice and relaxing. They had fire pits throughout the area. The service was excellent and they were able to split the bills between the 3 couples. Lots of choices on the menu so there was something for everyone. Everyone enjoyed our meals in our group.

We had a post-Easter visit here with some amazing specials. We've never been disappointed in our food experience here. This is an inn as much as a restaurant, so caters to a low-key vibe, in a beautiful, historic, bistro-esque space, while providing "high-end" food fare. While I think they probably could do with stronger service, the food is among the best we've found in Ewing. The meatballs definitely rival any place in the region and are layered in a bed of spinach and banana peppers that itself feels like a meal. It's too hard to pass up. Everything else we had on this visit was a special and equally substantial and well-flavored. Food is pricey to be sure, but this is a first choice when we're looking for an intimate, quiet meal that will not miss on flavor and originality.
