We have eaten at Grande Provence on a number of occasions and I have reviewed previously with 5 Stars. But this time I have to give a lower mark because the service was definitely not at the same level as it has been in the past. It isn't that it's really bad or anything, just nowhere near the standard that... More

We chose to dine here for our last night in Franschhoek celebrating my mom's 80th birthday. The food was pleasant but very expensive and hardly fine dining. Rumblings of discontent from adjacent tables and we were overcharged by R150!! The sea bass was delicious but such a small portion for R250 but we all agreed that our waiter was very... More

There's something almost mystical about this Italianate property. It could be a million miles away from the bustle of Franschhoek Village. Arrive early to try a few of the house wines in the tasting room, wander through the formal, sculpture filled gardens and take a look at the Modern Art gallery. The restaurant is one of the most formal in... More

dined here twice in a week, and found the food to be of an excellent standard both times. Dishes were colourfully and artfully presented, and taste combinations great. Matched with wines we whiled away two afternoons under the shade of the mighty oaks in the courtyard....bliss!

This was our third or fourth visit for lunch at Grande Provence, it has always been one of our favourite venues in Franschhoek, not just for the food but also for the whole atmosphere. I had been planning on proposing to my girlfriend for a while and couldn't think of a better place. On arrival to the restaurant and courtyard,... More

This was our third Christmas at Grande Provence and we were expecting great things. Sadly, our hopes did not materialise. Money had been taken from our credit card quite early on (and quite a substantial amount) but our email with the card details was never acknowledged so we weren't quite sure what the amount included. Previously, it had included a... More

Fab venue and good food. Very elegant surroundings. Fab sommelier! The estate wine wasn't my favourite but the pink sparkling wine was very pleasant!

I am a resident in Franschhoek. Regularly take my foreign guests to restaurants to give the best winelands experience. I have had two shocking experience previously which I have written a review on. This is my third horrible experience. We have decided to choose a la carte for lunch instead of set menu. At the end we tipped 11%. Waiter... More
